My feeling exactly, too, real. There was zero newsworthiness in the whole thing. Slow Lakers day (with three days between games) is what it says to me.

Meanwhile in NY they really are having a full on meltdown.

New report is that Carmelo is willing to waive his "no trade clause". :D

    That was fast.

Lulz. Let me fantasize for a second. Yeah; we could put together an interesting team with Randle and a top pick from the draft.

Yeah, not to go too far off topic here but that was a match made in h-e-double matchsticks from the get go. Phil sort of won the battle but then lost the war when they got Melo back on that full max contract which runs parallel to his own. Phil has never really liked Melo's game from what I've seen and heard. They are stuck with each other and I can't see either one backing down. Melo doesn't want to play the triangle and Phil doesn't want to see his volume shooting. It's a square peg round hole situation - more for Phil I think, just like you said when he went there. That is meltdown central over there. Fighting on the court, in the locker room, Fish stuck in his first pro coaching gig, trying to get guys like JR. Smith and Melo to run the triangle . . . oh, it's going to be ugly just like we thought it was.

Been waiting for this to come out for a while. Now we know when. Can't Wait! I sure hope @CaCHooKa Man or someone is going to record this because many of us dont have Showtime.

    KOBE BRYANT'S MUSE Launch Trailer

I dont know about you guys but I'm really interested in what he has to say about his Colorado stuff, he's always been very tight lipped about that his whole career and we've never really heard a lot of details about how he felt during the whole thing, the pressures he faced if he had any, things like that because he obviously never showed it when he was playing incredible basketball during that time.

melo's just showing doofuses like howard how it's done. get your money AND get to go where you want. that no-trade clause means the knicks can't ship him to sacramento or detroit. he'll waive it for la or chicago, suckas. not that i want him that badly, but lol @ knicks. i really thought phil should have stuck to his guns with the sub-max offer to melo. that was a chance to really flex some organizational muscle (something phil likes to do), and he flinched. they may pay for it for a while...

The question is: would the rebuild be easier/faster/more acceptable with or without Carmelo?

Secondary question: how bad would the Knicks be right now without Carmelo Anthony?

The Knicks even WITH Carmelo are the third worst team in the NBA. At 4-20 they've got one MORE loss than the Sixers (2-19). They're ALREADY a Top 5 lottery team. They're competing for first place.

If they keep Melo they will in time be better than a top 5 lottery team. From a pure talent stand point they have a better team than the Lakers do when you look at the other role players.

I'm honestly not too sure about that. Who on that team is better than ours by a significant margin? Throw in that they all hate each other and that team's 2K rating is plummeting.

    1) Jose Calderon: Way better than anything we have at PG. His passing ability and able to hit outside shots consistently is prime.
    2) JR Smith = Swaggy P: Now you and I both know we would rather have Nick on this team than JR, but for pts sake and the role they play lets just say they are even.
    3) Amare: Way better any any of our PF's we have this year. I've watched a few knicks games this year he looks a lot better than the last 2 years.
    4) Samuel Dalembert: He may not be able to play a ton of minutes but he is a shot blocker and rebounder.Yes, Jordan Hill is better but Jordan Hill also isn't a rim protect. (Think how D12 plays against Hill and How he plays against Dalembert; D12 has to work harder to get buckets against Dalembert than against Hill)
    5) Tim Hardaway Jr.: This guy especially is better than anything we have as far as role players outside of Swaggy P.
    6) Iman Shumpert: We dont have a single perimeter defender better than him on this Lakers team. Period.
    7) Shane Larkin: Better than Price is for our team.

There are a few others like Quincy Acy who have looked decent in spurts but you get the picture.

    1. I like Jose, but he's been both hurt and ineffective this season. In 11 games he's averaging 8.2 points, 3.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds. In almost the same amount of time, Lin is averaging more points, more assists, and more steals. He's not as efficient, but I wouldn't say he's head and shoulders above Jeremy this year.
    2. Young is much smarter than Smith. I'd say every GM in the NBA would rather have Young over Smith including Phil.
    3. Stoudemire this season: 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds with 0.4 steals and 0.9 blocks in about 26 minutes. 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds with 0.6 steals and zero blocks in 26 minutes. Amar'e is better, but not by a ton. Might be your best bet though.
    4. Sammy stinks man. Definitely no better than Ed Davis let alone Jordan Hill.
    5. Hardaway Jr. is their best bet for a future prospect except for two things: 1. He can't get along with their 5 year max superstar and 2. he's playing less than 20 minutes per game, averaging less than 10 points, less than 2 assists, and he's totaled only 5 steals so far in 24 games played. He's not that good.
    6. Shumpert plays defense and not much else. He's the SG version of Wesley Johnson. Even their numbers are similar. (more assists for Shump since he's a guard and more blocks for Wes since he's a wing/occasional stretch four).
    7. Shane Larkin might be better than Price, is he better than Clarkson? Hard to tell since Clarkson doesn't play, but I'd say they're not too far apart.

That doesn't include Jordan Hill by comparisons. Nor does it include the fact that our team seems to like each other and New York hates each other.

Sure, I wasn't talking about chemistry, on/off the court problems, just talking about players producing. It's close.

Well sure both our rosters are really, really bad. I just think ours are both slightly better and more likely to play like a unit. That Knicks team is so dysfunctional AND they stink... Really puts our team in perspective. When it comes to picking which big market to play for, which team looks more attractive right now?
