Anaheim is always 20 degrees hotter because of all the people in Disneyland and the methane gas they produce. It created a hole in the ozone directly above Anaheim. Big Thunder Mountain used to be lush and green. The Matterhorn is actually slowly melting.

I couldn't help but laugh listening to Greta and her breathy presentation. She got herself worked up pretty well. Using teenagers to make a point is just pathetic.

This teenager never worked a day in her life but wants to tell billions of people who can't afford other sources of energy to pay more so Earth can be more greener. These aren't solutions. Why doesn't she go to China and India to advocate for these changes? Hint: Because she knows they will laugh at her. In India, they'll probably rape her and then toss her into the river after they're done with her. The point is, offer solutions instead of regurgitating what should be done. I've been to China twice and India once. People in India toss trash into the river like it's a garbage disposal. If this Greta person truly thinks USA can change how India and their billion+ people behaves, she needs to wake up from fantasy land. Same with China. China doesn't give a s*** about pollution because there isn't a cost-effective way to generate the energy they need and for growing third-world countries such as India and Vietnam, telling them to stop polluting is a great way to never make it out of that country alive.

What?? Oh, like how could you do THAT to the river!!???
But he makes a good point, you can walk into a free land and spew this crap, but walk into a religious country or a totalitarian country and try that. Good chance you end out in prison. And after that, who knows what will happen to you. This poor girl will be a pariah for the rest of her life. Small group of friends but an outcast from many areas of the world.

The Trump administration has formally notified the United Nations that the U.S. is withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement. The withdrawal will be complete this time next year, after a one-year waiting period has elapsed.

"We will continue to work with our global partners to enhance resilience to the impacts of climate change and prepare for and respond to natural disasters," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Monday.

Nearly 200 countries signed on to the agreement in 2015 and made national pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Each country set its own goals, and many wealthy countries, including the U.S., also agreed to help poorer countries pay for the costs associated with climate change.

The U.S. is now the only country to pull out of the pact.

"The United States is not cooperating with the rest of the world on dealing with climate change," says Andrew Light, a former climate official in the State Department who helped develop the Paris Agreement.

The agreement was designed to be easier to join than to leave. The U.S. even helped spearhead language that would hold countries accountable for the promises they made, in part to help guard against regime changes and other global political turmoil.

Indeed, in the years since the pact was created, many key international players, including Brazil, China, Japan and India, have experienced economic or political upheaval, but none has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement as a result.

President Trump originally announced his intention to withdraw from the deal in the summer of 2017, shortly after he took office. At the time he said, "As of today, the United States will cease all implementation" of the agreement, including federal policies meant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as U.S. contributions to the international climate fund for poorer nations.

"These agreements are just only as good as the commitments from each country," Light says.

The U.S. had pledged to reduce national greenhouse gas emissions by about a quarter by 2025, compared with 2005 levels. The country is not on track to achieve that goal.

In the intervening years, the Trump administration has systematically attempted to roll back federal limits on carbon emissions, including rules about how much pollution can be emitted by power plants, cars and trucks.

"The reality is, to really deliver on our climate goals, we do need strong federal action," says Rachel Cleetus of the Union of Concerned Scientists. "The unfortunate reality is U.S. carbon emissions actually rose last year."

This isn't the first time the U.S. has reneged on an international climate agreement. The U.S. failed to ratify the 1997 Kyoto Protocol despite being instrumental in its creation. In this case, the U.S. became a signatory to the agreement but almost immediately signaled that it didn't intend to pursue its responsibilities.

In both cases, the U.S. was instrumental in developing the international strategy.

"That's one of the ironies of all this," Light says. When the Paris Agreement was being negotiated, the U.S. delegation pushed for more transparency and accountability to make sure the countries that signed on would actually do what they promised.

"Even though we're the ones who have been pointing to these potential scenarios for problems with other countries, we seem to be the biggest problem," Light says.

"If we were a tiny country with small emissions, it wouldn't matter so much," he says. "But we're not. We're a big country with a lot of power and a lot of influence around the world. And so for us to be the exception on this issue is holding the world back."

A formal withdrawal is reversible, however, if a future administration chooses to rejoin the Paris Agreement and pick up where the U.S. left off with its emissions reduction promises.

From what I’ve researched this looks to be a good move. I’m under the impression that politicizing climate change is not a good thing for anybody. It’s a lot more intricate and I may even agree with some of the proposals, but as a whole I’m happy this is where we are, the whole thing appeared to be another government regulation.

My problem with the press is that I know they NEVER just tell us the facts, they NEVER present both sides of an issue. It's all about what and why they want to influence and manipulate us. I know that sometimes it CAN be for our own good, but most of the time it's because of pockets being greased and power. The LA Times is one of many news sources that have proven themselves as a bad source of knowledge, if you are actually trying to learn the true ins and outs of anything. Their way or the highway and I chose the highway a long time ago.

There is no doubt that mankind has contributed to global warming and an increase in man made carbon emissions. That part is simple science and can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. What they refuse to consider is that there may be other cycles at play here that could actually be contributing more than us. Certainly there are sun and other earthly cycles we seem to have very little understanding of. They like to pretend this is cut and dry and very simple in context, however the truth is, to model climate change is a very difficult. There are too many variables that are not well known and is one of the reasons why there has never been a successful model that was truly able to predict accurate long term global climate results. There have been a ton of articles written about this if you look around the web.

If it wasn't for my lucky mood watch, I wouldn't know that the F to believe!

I believe in climate change CREATED by human activity but asking the United States and them alone to try and curb climate change with safer alternatives isn't ideal. To combat this problem, China, India, and other third world nations need to adapt as well. Greta would have my respect if she starts advocating for such in these countries. The problem is, when you're poor and live by the day, the last thing that comes to your mind is to become environmentally friendly. You're worried about feeding your children. And there lies the problem with climate change. We need to lift communities out of poverty first.
