I remember that when it happened. He's got so many options for microbrews out here.

Punk-101...you need to go to The Bruery and show them this video. You have spent enough money there that you can probably get a sit down with the owners (if you aren't actually an owner yourself :Randallconfused:). Pitch this add with their logo in their instead.

I threw this out but got backlash. So, if he averages 7 points and 7 rebounds, some may interpret that as a successful tenure. I do not. A 7'1 center who is guaranteed 64 million should be able to get 10 points and 10 rebounds at least and effect the lane. I really believe at some point Zubac will supplant him as the starting center this coming season.

i think 10 and 7 and the lakers are a respectable defensive unit when he's on the floor, and he's worth the deal. actually, games and minutes played is probably as important a metric as any other in this case. my concern is that the FO bought damaged goods. if he's right, it was worth an overpay. the mozgov of two years ago is certainly better than biyombo or mahinmi, who each went for more. all three will be pretty much untradeable, though, almost regardless of production.

and no, i don't think zubac starts. i'm not positive he can supplant yi or black this year.

I think we have to put these numbers into context.

Among those bigs (6'11" or taller) who signed a new contract, here is the amount you're paying for a point, assist, or rebound (lower is better):
    J.Hill 3.4
    Gasol 6.8
    Plumlee 7.8
    Drummond 9.8
    Jefferson 10.7
    Leonard 11.2
    Whiteside 11.4
    Howard 12.3
    Ezeli 12.5
    Mahinmi 12.5
    Horford 12.6
    Marjanovic 13.7
    Zeller 15.8
    Mozgov 18.9
    Black 20.9

    Noah 34.8

Those contracts aren't good in this limited data pool, so I think there's some reason to be cautious at the very least. But at least some of these players are more offense than defense (like Hill, at the top of the list), so the list skews that way. Not an exhaustive list; if you want me to crank out someone's value, let me know.

Honestly Moz didn't look bad out there. He's a huge body in the paint, made the right passes, didn't force things, and was able to knock down a few hooks.

Definitely not the stiff Hibbert was.

I was impressed with his decision making with his passes. He saw the court well last night. He'll never be a stat stuffer but he'll make the right play and do things that don't always show in the stat sheet.

Bottom line that's why Luke wanted him. Now if he can stay reasonably healthy .... someone's going to owe me $10. And I'm sure would be happy to have been wrong.

He wrestled with Boogie fairly even up I thought. That's something in and of itself to take as a win. We're a Big team down low. Tarik.... jeeezus.... looked super strong and quick last night playing man to man D.

Zu's calves say hello. I'm as amazed with those trunks as I was with Okafor's hands ..."back in the day".

With how well Tarik looks, I hope we can keep in fresh by sharing minutes.

All I ask is 10-7-3-2 points, boards, assists and blocks...and loads of very sore shoulders on opponents courtesy of the picks he sets.

Unfortunately our point guards can't get more than 3 assists.

He does a lot for the team that doesn't show up on stat sheets. Being big included. He's also a great roll man on the pick which frees up D'Angelo for those free throw line floaters. He's not a great player, but he fits well with the need. Not to mention his passing has been better than expected in half-court sets. I'm not upset about his contract yet.

We do have great talent behind him though. He's looking more and more like the place holder for Zubac in 4 years.

mozgov's only looked bad when asked to score in isolation. that's never been a strength of his. he can punish teams for playing a small on him, but he can't beat people his size one on one. this is ok. if he could, he wouldn't have been available at any price tag.

as others have said, the key is staying on the floor. that was my concern with the big contract: you can't pay guys to be in suits. this is part of why the mavs let parsons walk. they liked his game fine; they just worried they wouldn't see much of it.
