What a f****** stupid and petty and ill thought out thing to say. Like you didn't brag about picking Kobe's brain and taking every opportunity to learn from him last year. Unbelievable .... "seems" like he has the big head already and hasn't done jack, Boron hampered or not. Yeah the question was about "media day" but why in the world go "there"?? You better have your s*** together completely as a player this year, DAR, to support that big head.
I don't think he intended that to be a jab at Kobe. Everybody knew the focus was on the KFT even before he officially announced it once the season commenced. I believe he was pointing out that it was clear that the focus was not on developing the young players last year and he's excited about it this year.
Well sure. But what a clueless dumb a** to say it first thing on Media day and give the press some behind the scenes "resentment" angle to now pursue for clicks on line. In fact there was optimism on Media day going into the season. No one knew yet it was formally going to become Boron's worst season coaching in the league and then become the KFT soon after.
I didn't read that into DAR's comment. I can see how you might take that out of context but be real, you think the kid would dis Kobe anywhere let alone @ a media day? And I think he genuinely admires Kobe. On one hand it' great to still have MWP making ridiculous quotes, being a locker room presence and a defensive mentor for the team, but I dread seeing him out there on the floor. They could have just made him a player development coach.
I took the "animosity in the room" comment as directed completely at B0ron, as the team clearly hated him. The Kobe thing seems like a separate thought. "There was a lot of animosity here last season. Also, it was all about Kobe last media day, now there are many different stories.".
I'm pretty sure he used the wrong word and meant anonymity. All the focus and attention was on kobe last year. This year attention is on the young guys and new coach.
I hope you guys are right. Haven't actually seen the clips yet, just reading tweets about it on my phone. But if Kobe "shot" too much .... DAR clearly "yaks" too much way too early.
This makes me sad. Not that Kobe is gone but that his absence has dropped the team's total IQ to abysmal proportions
