Ok, well you don't have to be rude. I was simply saying he's not going to have the market appeal of Kobe.

Hope he makes the team and does well. I'll support him. I have to get familiar with his game and go watch his highlights on DX Express.

I apologize, I don't want to give off bad vibes. Just to echo therealdeal, the marketing opportunity is too big ignore. And I think most of us are left wondering about another angle - trade, cap space, marketing, etc - mostly because he's had a poor showing in the NBA so far. I'm positive the Lakers FO thinks he's a good player, but I am not totally convinced he is.

Do we get all jersey sale money, or does that run through the NBA?

I don't know that anyone ever will in China unless they're as good as Kobe AND Chinese, but there's certainly an aspect of marketing involved regardless. The Lakers are going to be searching very much for ways to sell merchandise now that Kobe's gone with no true successor on the roster. Having a diverse team is a good way to prepare.

Some say he is out in a remote Province of China training with the Chinese Bird, and the Chinese Jordan while the Chinese Barkley gorges himself thrice daily on traditional pork dumplings.

The Lakers are amazing drafting players and suck at signing FAs...signing another bum that cannot defend his own shadow for a buttload of money. I know about the "variables" but still.

Hm. That feels like a stretch.

And a weird distinction to make!

Thing is he's not a weakling now by any stretch, especially down low where the body mass counts. With never having worked in any facility with a weights program. Just these next couple of months we're going to see an improved and stronger Zu. He's going to be too effective in lots of ways for use in Luuke's 3 moves ahead chess game with his flow of on floor lineups vs the checkers playing opposing coaches who as well don't have a wookie to match with.

Sure, but there are articles out there from 1-2 NBA teams saying the reason why he hasn't and didn't stick with them was because of his work ethic and not showing a willingness to want to get better. It's one thing to work hard and just not get better. Can't put a player down for that. But when he doesn't care to work on his game or there is entitlement issues, then I get concerned.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my original argument. The not working hard and questions of his willingness to work came long before last year's unwillingness to sign with us. I'm far more alarmed by what other NBA teams have said than him just not wanting to join our team.

This to me makes the most sense why we wanted him as well. Contract can't hurt us on the basketball court but helps to bring in more revenue because of the fan base.
