He plays for the Australian national team and he opted out of the Olympics this year to prepare for his rookie season or something. I use the term "plays for" loosely since he was cut from the 2014 FIBA World Cup team.

Can't help but notice and remember the day before he was playing 1 on 1 against the Butler, Kyrie, Barnes, Lowry, Parker... all of which he struggle against. Every now and then he shined, but struggled over all.

Watching this clip which is 1 or 2 days later he is dominating against the select team guys in the same 1on1 games. practice and competing like that always pays off.

To each his own I guess, but this is now the 2nd time I have watched this interview and I don't see anything that made me think Pop doesn't see much in Randle. In fact I think its the exact opposite. Pop loves people with a great sense of humor and those who aren't full of himself. He was clear to me at least that he sees randle with those kind of characteristics.

I agree with you. Pop sounds like he likes Randle as the person. I meant from what Pop said about Randle as the player, the language sounds generic and ordinary, as I heard it.

Ingram needs to play defense with his hands in the ready position. I swear he could have intercepted some of those passes if he didn't have his arms and just hanging there.

    Maybe he was tired.

I can totally see him taking games off for rest because tired and cramps. Sounds a lot like someone he's compared to.

if anything, he sounded meh on ingram. maybe because he's a rookie? but he found the durant comparison hilarious, like, he couldn't believe anyone would say that. he didn't speak at all about randle's game, but i agree with those who said it sounded like he liked randle. and he made a point to highlight the personalities of these guys--it was a good insight into how pop works and perhaps how the spurs work.

it also shows how different these guys are with coaches and other players versus the media persona. randle would have been the last guy about whom i expected to hear things like "doesn't take himself too seriously" and "has a sense of humor". seriously, i had him pegged as the opposite.

this. for almost all nba players. so strange to me to watch guys on the defensive end without their hands up. about as strange as watching bigs not open towards the ballhandler on pick and roll plays.

and that's the famous proponent of the "snitches get stitches" axiom.

Yeah I thought at first Pop was giving Randle the lip service treatment, but then he doubled down on the humor comment. If he hadn't brought it back up the second time, I'd be with the "seems like Pop doesn't like him" camp. I think Pop likes him a lot probably and actually didn't mention personality at all with Russell. I wonder which he values more if he values them equally in separate ways (skill vs. personality). I would think though that Julius is the kind of guy that coaches adore: he takes advice, works his tail off, and more importantly he enjoys doing both of those things. Even if Julius doesn't have the natural feel of a guy like D'Angelo, if he works harder coaches will like him more.

That sort of talk makes me wonder about why Lillard isn't there over Lowry.

Why does Parker look so bad? Jeez. I'd hate playing with that guy.

The First Team is comprised of the best so that is to be expected given Russell is coming off a rookie season...an uneven one even. Didn't even make the All Summer League First and Second Team selections... Or it could be just that crazy hair.

DLO in the center! Man, I thought DLO and Booker are the same size, but here Booker looks visibly bigger.

I agree. He was much more reserved in his praise for Swiggy and Durant's comparison of he and Ingram.

90%?? C'mon now! From the top left down I believe that's: Malcolm Brogdon (the only one I don't know for sure :D), Denzel Washington, Emmanuel Mudiay, Zach LaVine, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Marcus Smart, Jabari Parker, Doug McBuckets, Gary Harris, Devin Booker, D'Angelo Russell, Stanley Johnson, Justice Winslow, Victor Oladipo, Rodney Hood, Julius Randle, Jerami Grant, Brandon Ingram, Jahlil Okafor, Willie Cauley-Stein, Aaron Gordon, Myles Turner, and of course Brice Johnson.

I am in two separate 12 team dynasty fantasy basketball leagues. :D I have to know all most of the young guys.
