brown really works in terms of team defense. it's amazing what some diligence will do. i can't see any actual talent in this guy, but i think he just gets himself to the right spots over and over again. coaches have to love that. i just can't believe what a mediocre to poor shooter he's been for over a year now. again, it took danny green a while to figure out where he fit in the nba. that could be brown. but those guys don't tend to stick with their first teams.
I'm not sure the perimeter defense only guy sticks in the league anymore when they value shooting so much. You've got to hit at a half way remarkable clip and get the rack at least or something. If he isn't hitting a shot he's wasted space on offense and that's how you lose an NBA job. I just don't understand how a guy drafted as a shooter has a weak point shooting the ball.
I think he needs to change his pre-shot mechanics to a hop into the shot while receiving the pass rather than his one foot step into the shot. I think his center of gravity/balance is a bit off when he does that and that causes his shot to drift right or left. His actual shooting form is good.
Whatever we run for him, I want it ran for Ingram. This guy can be impactful on defense but he gives me nothin offensively. Can't shoot and dribbles without a purpose a lot of the time.
Absolutely. We run so much for Anthony and I appreciate us trying to get him going, but let's run those plays for the kid that's more important please.
Gonna need to be a little more patient with AB. Maybe he is the guy that develops in 3 or 4 years. It is what it is. He isnt a need. If you can save a roster spot for him, do it.
I totally forget until I listened to his post game presser last night that he had had that bad foot injury or something to end his season last year. He said that he has practiced for a while but not a whole lot of 5 on 5. Makes sense with how he has played on that side of the ball despite being pretty solid on defense.
Brown appears to have a bigger frame. Had his shot swatted last night baseline. Brown's off the dribble game has been clunky. I like his resolve though. Brown has been a dog on defense...attached to his cover and relentless in his pursuit.
I dont know how much cap space we have left but if its close to 10mill...why not offer it up to Harkless, 2yrs 20mill with player opt yr 2. If por. Doesn't match i would cut brown or trade him for future low end 2nd rder to the nets or something (they are in need of talent). Harkless would be a better backup 3 and some small ball 4
He continues to underwhelm me in every way. But hey we managed to get Nance, Clarkson and Zubac as later draft steals so we are in great shape - can't get too greedy.
I specifically cite offense because his defense is already at the NBA level. After Monday’s win over the Warriors, Brown expressed his belief that the’s the team’s best defensive player which, while potentially not true (I’d lean towards Nance), is at least arguable. When it comes to guarding, Brown has excellent physical tools, strong instincts, and plays hard. He takes pride in defending the other team’s top option and typically does a good job at it. On the other end, though, Brown is a work in progress. Though a very good shooter in college, his accuracy has not yet translated to the pros. Last season he shot 28.6% from behind the arc, making only 20 of his 70 attempts. From two point range, he shot 33.9%, connecting on 19 of his 56 shots. Through 3 summer league games Brown has not fared much better hitting 2 of his 9 three-pointers, though he has gone 5-9 from inside the arc. At some point, the trend from distance will need to reverse itself. His college shooting stats suggest he will get there eventually. While I do not have the research on this, I would imagine shooters who were as good as him in college generally retain that ability in the pros. Brown hit 44.6% of his 3’s on nearly 300 attempts over his final two years at Stanford. He really can shoot. http://www.forumblueandgold.com/201...-the-path-towards-becoming-a-rotation-player/
