I expect it at this point. Sadly, I expect Kobe to miss the buzzer beaters as well, as he hasn't hit one in like, what, 3 or 4 years?

In a sick sense I was happy Lakers lost bc it brings us that much closer to a top 5 pick. Since the t wolves were tied with us in the win column, but not anymore lol! :swear:

oh man that was an amazing performance with the 3 three's. those were probably the last notable clutch shots he made

Doesn't count for what I meant to say. I meant to say game winning buzzer beater. He's still clutch, he still hits big shots, he hit one to tie tonight, but that last shot to win it all when tied or down hasn't gone down for him in years if I'm remembering right.

That was insane. And what a level he was still capable of playing at that year prior to achilles. And I bet Dwight had zero joy from any of them getting the win for us at the end.

Wow. How did we manage to lose this game? We are now officially the very worst team in the West.

That should be good for tank purposes, though :). Byron is leading the brigade...

Honestly some of his decisions just scream either incompetence or that he's leading the tank charge. I don't see how he sits Lin and Davis to end that game without knowing it makes us less likely to win. I just don't think that's possible.

The Lakers are not so secretly tanking this season. We're coming for that top 5 pick.

Nah, he's just a bad coach. We got smoked defensively last night by a bunch of rookies and Mo Williams shooting practice shots. He blamed the loss last night on the players, if he's trying to tank, he should take the blame for it, or it's shady to blame players for something he's doing.

I'm with Doc. It'd be suicide for the franchise to allow their coach to blame the players if it's an organization-wide tank effort. Unless Scott's taking the tank into his own hands...say, at the private urgings of Worthy and Magic. The ultimate company man, the martyr, Judas...I mean, Byron Scott.

Minny did their best but failed in their quest in the lottery race. The Lakers are solidly in the 2nd spot but Philly will be a tough nut to crack.

Philly has mastered the tanking. They will be taking home the worst record this season. I'm almost convinced that the lakers are intentionally tanking. Doing just enough to be competitive but holding back just enough to lose. Which would make sense given Steve Nash has given this organization nothing after giving up way too much. If it is the case hell I'll support it, I just won't like it.

Top 5 worst record is definitely ours. But keep in mind we need to be 2nd worst to GUARANTEE a top five pick.

I really am trying not to be super negative, but I honestly have not seen anything on the court that makes me feel like we won't be in the top 5. Kobe can not bail us out the way he used to and I suspect he is going to get worn down even more as the season progresses.

Worse, Byron just does not seem to have any clue what to do with this roster. Minutes / substitutions are just a bunch of head scratchers right now.

This team just has a lot of problems right now. Absent pulling off some miracle and bringing in more players, i can not see us turning this around.

Pretty much agree. With a guy like Booz as our starting PF and Byron's inability to or reluctance to take him out (either FO decision or his own), this team has little chance to win games. If he took the bold move and benched Booz I think we could actually win games. Until that happens I don't think we will. So either the FO wants us to tank and Byron is on board, or the FO wants Booz to play, or Byron just feels like his hands are tied because Booz is a vet and a free agent . . . whatever the cause for it, I don't think Byron is blind. He has called out Booz's defense and he can see the same things we do. Maybe as others have mentioned, we are trying to keep Davis' price tag from inflating . . .

Anyway, yeah, unless we make some moves at the deadline or something this team doesn't have enough going to win even half their games. I'm now expecting to keep on the current path - win one in every four games. If we were in the east we'd win more, but at this point it's probably better for us to just retain our pick.

Completely agree on Boozer. Against Minny I was just stunned that we took out Davis at the end. At that point, I really felt like the front office and coaching staff have embraced tanking.

Totally agree. That was a move you make if you want to lose. I don't think Byron is that incompetent. I may be wrong but it made no sense at all if you were actually trying to win the game and care about defense as Byron purports to. The odd thing about it was that it wasn't for Booz's sake who was still on the bench.

Exactly. I have gone over that several times in my head. Just doesn't make any sense unless you want to lose.
