trust me I understand the risk, but an extra 50 million or so on his contract speaks volumes.

I find it extraordinary that people think we've got a shot at Westbrook after this last summer... I mean barring some CRAZY development we're not going to be a good team next year. Do we have a shot at the playoffs even? What do we have to offer Westbrook that he'll be excited to join in his prime?

Um. Check out my posts from 2 days ago - me getting bashed for saying that we are far better served going after Westbrook this season, giving up DAR, and maybe Ingram (if we must). Sure, keep Ingram if we can. But I am just as high on JR. I see Westbrook at SA next year if we are not careful.

Credibility matters. Salesmanship matters. Seriousness matters. Competency matters. Leadership matters. Congratulations in advance Golden State for the next 3-5 Championships.

What KD did is worse (for me at least). I'll root for anyone but the Dubs from now on :D

If Westbrook won't agree to a sign and trade, why would we risk even trying to get him this year?

If he'd do a sign and trade, I'm all or it.

I don't think people think we have a great chance of signing him next summer as a free agent. It's about risk.

Throwing a random number out there, I think there's a 10% chance we could sign him.

But if we traded for him, there's a 50% chance we're giving up a future superstar for a one year rental.

Not worth it in my opinion.

I just find it incredibly doubtful that we have even an outside shot at Westbrook. We couldn't even get a meeting with Whiteside for goodness sake. Why would Westbrook, who will be an MVP candidate next season, come here? Most of us are expecting about 35 wins next season (which I'd be happy with!). I don't think there's much of a chance that Westbrook joins a 35 win team.

Next year? The next five years probably.

They were just one game away from winning it all. They just won 73 games.

    They just added KEVIN DURANT.

It's over. Nobody is beating them.

There's also 50 million reasons for him to stay. Look at all the FAs this summer who could get the 5th year that stayed at home. DeRozan, Conley, and Batum went nowhere. Horford wasn't offered the 5th year and Durant went to the best regular season team in the world. Having those Bird Rights AND a young, half-way competitive team would be a better argument than the 10% we've got to get him (I think it's less, probably 1% at the moment).

I respect the argument, I'm just surprised only one person agrees with me and so many are so firmly against it. I think it's at least worth thinking about.

Why would give away Russell? That doesn't make any sense. You keep him and Westbrook is the 2. I don't see how it's redundant. It's just smart. Russell is more of a true point guard. Westbrook can do what he does best. Then obviously you have Ingram, Randle, and Mozgov.

That is crazy. That last minute call from jerry west sure did it tho. I'm not even mad. I like the Warriors. I like Durant. They are definitely the faves next year and for the next few years.

I think it's a moot point because I feel like our kids don't have enough value to entice OKC anyways. OKC still has a solid team. I think they'd rather play out this year handing the keys to Westbrook and seeing what he can do leading the team, and then hoping that THEY can convince him that the extra $50 million is worth it.

If they were really scared of him bolting, I think there are other teams out there that might throw our a better offer to rent him for a year.

I consider at the trade deadline, but it would be very interesting to see OKC consider blowing things up.

They've done a solid job preparing in case this happens, and a solid trade for young talent could bring that deal home. But I only risk that kind of talent if I know he'll resign. Because I think we'll win games, I wait til trade deadline.

Well. With all the comparisons between Durant and Ingram. We now have 4 times to check out that matchup
