Just a thought but is it possible that no current NBA star wants to join the Lakers because they are afraid of the expectations that come with leading this franchise, especially after Kobe's successful 20 year run, not to mention that every number that has been retired by the team belongs to a Hall of Famer? Are they all afraid to take on that challenge? If so, then who cares. Maybe it's up to the young guns--Clarkson, Randle, Russell, Nance and Ingram--to carry on the proud tradition of the Purple and Gold and bring a championship back to LA. We can only hope...

I think if we stretch Nick we can open 20 for Wade. I don't see him coming here for that, but if he did I don't think anyone would be laughing. I'm not sure the Heat are currently that much better than us, they're just in the East. They just lost Deng and Joe Johnson, and I do not believe the Heat when they say Bosh is going to be ok, you cannot count on his health, it's a serious issue. So basically they have Whiteside, Dragic, Winslow, and Richardson. I would think our roster is more appealing than that. But again, it's the East, it only takes one star or two really good players to make the playoffs over there. Wouldn't be shocked if he went to the Knicks or Bucks, both solid rosters.

Russell Westbrook isn't gonna be afraid of that. I'm pretty damn sure of that. He isn't scared of anything. If he was I wouldn't want him here nor anyone else who doesn't have the balls to play for this franchise.

So what? What do you expect him to say? OH HEY GUYS I'M COMING HOME. That's not gonna happen. Of course he's gonna say his heart is in OKC and I'm sure it is. A lot of things can happen in one year. We could surprise people even make the playoffs who knows? OKC could lose in the second round or the West Finals. I don't see any reason for Westbrook to stay in OKC if Durant is gone. With him were better than OKC would be with him and without KD.

You're right. He is the only player that would probably love and accept the challenge of following Kobe's act. How apropos would it be for the guy Kobe said reminded him of himself to take the torch. Argh! One more year...

If we can, we should definitely try to keep a max slot open for next year. I don't think Westbrook will be coming though. Superstars that are in contending teams almost never leave for a worse situation, for less money.

I cannot think of a player better suited to pass that mantle too. Let's hope Durant bolts next year, the Lakers make enough progress, and Westbrook comes home.

I agree 110% with everything written right there. I too like Leonard. I think Vasquez would be a great pickup.

We can stretch Young which gives us ~23mil. You'd have to throw almost all of that at Wade to get him slightly curious. No way to afford both Wade and Pau. And Pau is most likely ring chasing.

Derozan said something along these lines. How he's up there in terms of Raptor legacy but if he came to the Lakers, he'd be compared to all the past legends.

22 win improvement would be awesome. Definitely should improve our standing with free agents and send a signal that we are righting the ship.

An interesting under the radar name the Lakers have been linked to is Allen Crabbe (RFA) from Portland. Reading and doing some homework on him, he seems like a perfect fit for where the Lakers are at right now and would mesh nicely with the Lakers young squad. Able to play the 2/3 and a better backup option than Lou in terms of team ball and defense. Probably going to take a good sized deal to steal him from Portland, but he's improved every year since he came into the league and provides us the versatility, shooting and defense we need. Probably the last real 3 and D player on the market.

What did this say? I saw that there was an Allen Crabbe tweet that was deleted. Was that this?
