If the idea from the beginning was to duplicate the Golden State formula, then I think we're in for a world of disappointment. I expect Luke to take certain elements from that organization, but if we're trying to copy-paste everything...well, I don't think that's gonna go well.

And that's the route I think Luke will take. I mean he's been under the tutelage of some great coaches as a player and a assistant. Most importantly he's young and he gets the new style of basketball and its trends. Sure Mozgov isn't what any of us were expecting, and yes it's been very frustrating. But if this coaching staff was all for this move by all means I'm in, cause we really don't know squat behind the scenes.

Starting to see clarity on the Lakers FA strategy: If we can't land a whale, bring in great veteran leadership with something in the tank to teach our youngsters. Just look at this tweet chain regarding Mozgov as a teammate:

This is what I've been saying. He's not a great player by any means, but he's by all accounts a good dude with now back-to-back Finals experience. He's going to be great in the locker room and as long as his knee is fine, he'll give us some production we haven't seen in a while too.

The Lakers are expecting the young kids to take the next step and lead us with their talent, not our FAs. The FAs are being brought in to help them expand and explore their games. We'll sink or swim on the backs of these young 20-somethings. Dangerous and scary, but that's where we are now. There's a method to this madness.

I mean they'll make adjustments to the specifics of the system, but we're absolutely going to emulate the Warriors. We're going to run a lot of their same sets and we're going to plug our kids into their roles. We're not expecting 70 wins or anything, but it'll be great having a modern system in place.

And, should all else fail, GS system should inflate the stats, due to tempo, making our players more desirable trading pieces.

Mozgov is not a scrub. Have no idea why people keep saying this. People are conviently ignoring how he's been a solid center for most of his career. Last season was an anomaly because of injury.
I'm not sure why we're gonna be in a world for dissapointment. Who is expecting 73 wins? Nobody. Most are expecting 30. Those aren't high expectations. Everyone understands this is a young team, but this is a modern day system that absolutely fits our current personel.

It's a system that features ball and man movement, spacing, transition opportunities, screen and rolls, just lots of flow and pace. That's exactly what we need. It's perfect with the athleticism we have as well as some of the shooting we've added.

"Haters" is a no no term and considered inflammatory here. So for all the ....COUGH ..... "detractors" here concerning Mozgov ..... it seems "clear" as hell he was their target and best choice from who was going to be available.

Whiteside .... yeah the most dominant unrestricted legit center available. What was he going to cost with what else they wanted to do? He probably wasn't coming and all the screaming y'all remember for waiting on guys NOT coming while good fits went elsewhere? But did they even want him with the character questions???

Horford ..... was he ever really going to consider here? How do we know that the Lakers, like everyone else apparently with all the meetings lined up prior to the 12AM start of free agency, didn't tamper ..... errrr.....also fudge ..... and test the waters with his agent to gauge interest ahead of time as well??

    Howard ..... GTFOH!!

Left us with Mozgov, who in Luke and Shaw's eyes was a great fit, a great teammate and when healthy a productive player. Boston rumored after him as well. Luuke and Shaw and Mitch make the decision to GET him and take no chances, for yeah a little more maybe than would have been unicorn ideal .... but they did it, got it out of the way so they could move on in typical stealthy Mitch fashion. Did we even have a meeting with Baze or Deng? Looks like we are pulling off a very good FA period maybe with NO face to face meetings?

I like Mozgov's professional approach to his career. Sure he's not most of us wanted but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The N.B.A. - for us No Bozos Allowed.

Sigh... Just hoping Mozgov is good to go from the opening tip. At least 10 points, 6 boards, 2 blocks and a slew of hard picks laying out opposing backcourts.

So...Denver had ample room and a need at center...why didn't they get in on the bidding? I like that he's a nice guy. Awesome. But MWP was nice and well liked. So was Hibbert and he actually had far more success than Mozgov ever did. I ain't drinking the Kool-aid on this. I obviously hope I'm wrong, but he gets run off the court when teams go small...and we are going to be one of those teams.

What is the "Kool-Aid" version? That he makes us a playoff team? That he's a solid starter? That he's an adequate starter? That he's a bad starter? That he doesn't play? I'm just curious what the sides are so I know where I stand. I'm in the "adequate starter" camp, and I think he could have his best season.

The Kool Aid camp is saying this is a good signing. This isn't. If this was a 1 year deal at 25 million and then we have an out...I'd be totally OK with it. But we just got locked into a deal that will be paying a 33 and 34 year old center 16 and 17 million at about the time our youngsters *fingers crossed* are ready to actually make a little noise at which point we'll be attractive to good free agents. And I have seen nothing of Mozgov that tells me he will be anything more than 8/6/2. I mean, people are saying he can be our Bogut. Bogut was the #1 pick overall and one of the most underrated players in the league.

People are trying to justify this deal. It's a desperate deal. We could have called Mozgov at midnight and offered him 10 million and seen what he did. Instead we threw so much at him he couldn't not take it. That is the move of a small market perennial 40 win team.

Does anyone know what other offers were on the table for Mosgov? I'm wondering if $64MM was even necessary to get him.

That's my point. According to some reports he was our first call and we had him locked up in the first 4 minutes. People want to say this is market value. We have no idea what market value is. I could go to an auction and bid 500k on a Ford Pinto. Does that mean the market is 500k? No. It just means there was one idiot who jumped the gun.
