Mining an old random quote comparing Mozgov to Wilt is spin. It is the definition of reaching and spin. And the guy tweeting it, never even heard of him before. If you want to say Mozgov is solid, that's all you have to say, to point out comparisons to Wilt is laughable.

I think people (myself included) saw a white Roy Hibbert in Mozgov. A slow plodding uncoordinated stiff, completely incompatible with our players' strengths. All I wanted was a center who was mobile enough to be a pnr beast and block some shots, but we get the antithesis, a lumbering oaf. That's not the case though. Mozgov is quite mobile and is really good on the pnr. He is a decent shot blocker too. He's no Whiteside but he's no Hibbert either. I feel better.

I don't see what's so laughable. Lamar was talking about facing his team in international play. He said their Wilt Chamberlain. Not saying by any stretch he's Wilt, but that he's a dominant force and tough to deal with in the international game. Not a big deal to me.

Nice pick up. Turning a weakness into a strength. When healthy he moves good protecting the basket, goes hard for the dunk instead of little flip shots that get blocked, decent enough shooter, makes free throws, and a good team guy. Mosgov should fit in well with the young guns. Nothing wrong with smacking a double while your waiting for the long ball. Team is starting to shape up pretty good. Very much looking forward to seeing what Luke can do with these guys.

Why post that quote then, if not to try and make the Mozgov signing look much better than it is. Please, just stop. Wilt and Mozgov should never be compared, in any way, that's laughable. And knowing Lamar like we do now, he was profanity high when he said that.

What's the big deal? It's just a freaking quote. I posted it because it showed a really good team like the USA squad had real trouble handling someone like Mosgov. I don't have to stop anything and I'm not going too. I like the signing. He's gonna play well for us. If you disagree that's fine. I'm not making this signing look better than it is. I never said it was a great signing or even a good one, but it does give us something we need at a price that isn't even that bad compared to what others will get.

^Added my own takes to yours... We probably reached out to some of the above or gauged their interest from afar...then said "Nyet!"

Mozgov really is chosen for fitting in what Walton envisions and not to take away opportunities from our young core who need it to further develop. Walton will tailor his schemes to utilize his strengths while not diminishing everyone else around him.

Compared to Hibbert who was underwhelming and probably badly coached...Mozgov is a step up. Not saying much but I believe that. My expectations is that he will play his role...not be a detriment out there.

Makes the Ed Davis signing look even dumber....the year they finally realize not to wait on big name FA is a year to late. Davis makes $7mill/yr hahahaha, could do pretty much what Moz will do.

Isaiah Thomas and Kent Bazemore too.

To be fair though, Davis is simply too small to do what Mozgov does on a regular basis. I love Ed, but he's a backup for sure absolutely no question. Mozgov is at least a borderline starter due to his size.

Back at it y'all. Been still creeping on everyone&the entire process. I like the Mozgov signing. Once again, if you compare to old cba he'd be making 10-12 mill? He's a good(hopefully ends up being great for us) Center to have, solid Swiss army knife&great next to Randle, whose simply not that lengthy. you'd think they're going to ask him to shed weight like GSW asked Bogut/Varaejao so he can have better endurance&be more explosive(hopefully also allows to stay healthy).

You can argue he's a great candidate some time in the future as well to package up with someone like Clarkson or Randle for a star if one of our two become let's say all-stars.

todays league is mostly guard penetration anyways, not alot of big's posting up. I think Davis could've handled being the starter with this potential GSW style of switching everything. Im not to sure Moz can handle the high screen and rolls with Pg/C screens.

If Bogut can do it, Mozgov can do it. No question in my mind.

Davis would be a great backup big a la Ezeli or something, but he's not a starter. I love him, but he's not a starter.

If Mozgov ever has trouble we can always go small. It's not that complicated. I like Ed, but he's not nearly the interior presence Mozgov is when he's healthy nor the offensive threat. He's a great backup to have, but definitely no starter.
