^ Yeah I agree it's no longer realistic (loosely speaking) but in a lot of ways that made the movie more fun to me.

Saw Ted 2 over the weekend. I know he got bad reviews and many people didn't like it but I really enjoyed it and thought it was just as entertaining as the first one. Maybe its because I don't expect too much out of the film and I have always been a fan of Seth Macfarlane's work but there were some great jokes in there.

I really want to see 10 Cloverfield Lane, soon.

Haven't seen either one... Was tempted to buy the Blu Ray combo of both flicks when it was $15. When the first is really good, it is detrimental in a way that the expectations for the sequel are raised as it should. The producers try to do too much and end up spoiling the product.

I would mind checking out The Shallows. I always liked monster flicks plus Blake Lively isn't too bad to look at.

Saw ID4 2 over the weekend.

Best thing I can say about it: it was worth seeing once.

It was pretty bad. I was more impressed with the effects on 96. They were more significant. There was too much (Michael Bay would've been proud) and as a result, you don't care about any of it.

I didn't care about any of the cast or their fate. It lacks the heart that the first one had.

The script was weak. The colony aspect has been done 1000 times in Sci Fi films. The kid playing Will's son wasn't very good, but at least it wasn't Jayden.

Goldblum and his dad (who hasn't aged somehow) were the highlights. There's some new alien tech that was cool see.

The film would've been completely different and salvageable had Will returned. There was no way to fill that void.

I kind of agree with most of this. I feel like I might have "enjoyed" it a little more than you did. But is isn't a good movie. I am a little bummed. I hope it does well enough to get part 3 because the premise moving forward

Us going after them with the help of a 3rd alien race

    is pretty intriguing.

I saw The Shallows yesterday afternoon, and The Neon Demon late last night. Sundays are $7 movie day at one of my local theaters. Enjoyed both quite a bit, the Shallows was fun, short and to the point, and IMO beautifully shot, I'd give it a B-. The Neon Demon was even weirder than I expected, pretty f***ed up in parts, and I wouldn't even begin to know how to grade it. Only thing I can compare it to at all is Under the Skin in pace and creepiness, but this for me personally had more wtf stuff and I want to look away but can't moments. I can definitely say it seems like a movie people will either really like or hate.

I saw the Shallows too. it was average. I enjoyed it, but would never pay to see it again and doubt I'd watch it on TV if it was on, but I wasn't bored either. Interestingly, she filmed that movie after giving birth. Wowsers! She's gorgeous.

Yeah I've heard vaguely positive things about that movie.

Rumor is her agent just wanted her to do the movie to more or less prove that she's lost all that baby weight and is good to go as a love interest again in movies.

This isn't a movie but I just watched the first episode of the new HBO series, The Night Of, which doesn't premiere till July 10th and it's great.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2401256/

John Turturro is in it, and I've always enjoyed his work.

Godfather 1 and 2 really do age well.

    Classic. Timeless. Close to perfection.

You ever remember a movie being great and go back and watch it many years later and think how horrible it is? The Warriors off the top of my head.

    All the time.

Independence Day springs to mind immediately. I had so much fun watching the movie that the cheesiness didn't bother me, but wow is it full of cheese. :D

Finally... Well done movie...pacing is not for the impatient but overall it was not too bad. Liked the ending. Goodman always pulls a good performance. The lovely Ms. Winstead is underrated and never seems to age. Grade: B

    This weekend managed to watch

The Revenant - Really enjoyed the film, although I felt it could of gone into Glasses backstory more.
The Birdman - Again, thought it was awesome, although a little slow at first.

Both of those are great! Highly recommended.

I saw Tarzan on Saturday. It's not good... slow, kind of violent, and touches on a lot of adult things. I'm not sure I'd bring a young child to this movie. The final act was one of the silliest I've seen in years.

Finally saw 10 Cloverfield Lane, and I was not impressed. I had high expectations and was really excited to see the movie. The pacing was fine, I didn't have a problem with it at all.

I can't say I was completely shocked at Goodman's plan all along, but what really made me not like the movie was the ending. The whole Alien thing and how the girl took out the big ship the way that she did was just cheesy to me. I would have had more respect for the movie had there not be anything wrong at all with going outside and everything was normal. And that Goodman's character just had them scared the whole time.

The only part of the film I thought they did a good job was building the tension between Goodman and the two other people in the bunker. Ex: There were times when you would think Goodman knew what they were doing or onto, but he was really just playing the card game. Whatever that scene was called.

The part where he quickly pulled out his revolver and killed the guy did surprise me a little

    All in all C-/D+
