Ha ha, nah, that pick is still ours I think. Much as I can't stand him, I believe had Howard played last night we probably don't win. He's having a great season so far and Houston is like the top defensive team in the league.

If that happens, it happens. I'd love that Top 5 pick, but I also love watching a Laker team compete. I still think that pick is coming to us, but if it doesn't we'll deal with that hand when it gets there. I'd rather have a competitive team than a historically bad team, but... we'll see.

This should be in the Optimism Thread but here it goes..... The way I see it its sort of a win win. If we continue to lose like we have to begin the year we will no doubt get that Top 5 pick. But if we continue to win and complete, which in my opinion is more enjoyable it just means we'll have slightly more CAP money available to spend on free agents because we wont have that Top 5 pick CAP hold.

That's true. The cap hold will amount to about 3.5 million more to spend instead of a pick.

I hope Houston continues to falter...I'd love for that pick to be in the high teens. Given the way we've been hitting on our picks; Randle, Clarkson, Kelly...I have no doubt we'll find another gem to develop for the future...

Isn't the Houston pick protected somehow?

2 bottom records secure the top 5 pick, right? I don't think we'll end up that low and with our luck, that pick goes bye bye.

There's a proposal to change the odds so that all lottery teams will have a shot at even the #1 spot.
I think the vote is coming this year, to be in effect for the 2015 lottery.

We might lose the top 5 pick, which sucks.... but, I am glad we have Swaggy P on our team. He brings some much needed joy to the court.

I love me some Swaggy P. That interview he did with Jordan Hill was hilarious last night. This guy just keeps everyone loose, keeps it light. I love him as a counterbalance to Kobe and Byron's seriousness. If we had started the year with him healthy it would have been a different story. Granted the first ten games were going to be brutal no matter what. But I think we'd be a lot closer to a .500 record.

Brings production on the court, fun in the locker room, and an easy mentality about the game. What's not to love?

Players that can shoot and create their own shot are the eloquent and desperate answer for a coach who wont coach and fingerless p.gs who can't point. Lin couldn't play his natural game and his confidence was shook meaning his increasingly reliable 3 was off. He needed to find the outside or inside options that did not involve him doing too much. Ronnie Price made him look bad today, RONNIE PRICE. I cannot understand why Young was not used more. Players just go missing in Byron's substitution patterns #lookingonmilkcartons for swaggy p.
