I'm not a fan of Lebron joining the Lakers, but I'll admit that if that were to come to fruition, I will be salivating at the possibilities. You can also look at it this way: It would put an end to the notion that Lakers can't attract superstar free agents anymore. But I'm with @LTLakerFan, I'd let it sink then relish in the fact we would then become the most hated team in all of basketball. Let the doom begin....

    okay back to reality

James ain't donning the Laker uni... Just Smith trying to throw stuff out there for the masses. The NBA season is over...the NFL isn't starting for another three months.

Dan Gilbert would **** on himself if LeBron were to come here. That alone would be awesome.

From a cap perspective, forming a superteam is entirely possible if LBJ, Durant and Whiteside all agree to taking a 20mil deal per year. Imagine having the following roster:

    PG: DAR/Ring chaser/Huertas
    SG: Clarkson/Lou/#32 pick
    SF: KD/Ingram/A Brown
    PF: LBJ/Randle/Nance Jr
    C: Whiteside/Ring chaser/Black

This team can go 82-0 in the regular season and 16-0 in the post season! If Mitch pulls this off, he deserves a statue outside Staples Center.

Alright, it's time I put down the pipe and get some fresh air...

    LeBron is
    Isn't that the truth.

I'm still open to grabbing Barnes, though. Luke knows him; familiar with the system, can play the 3 or even go small with him at the 4 giving you another floor spacer and a guy who is surprisingly good at guarding some of the 4's in this league. I'd feel a lot more comfortable doing that then paying Parsons (injury history) or any other SF on the market in a real position of need for us.

Heck, if Ingram develops into a better player in 2 years, trade Barnes. He'll only be 26-27 at the time....

Folks this is what makes being a Laker fan so great. While many teams dream of a LBJ/KD superteam, it's not out the realm of possibility that we could do it, and we got the history to back it up (Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Worthy, Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton, Pau, Nash, Howard). All are players we obtained through free agency, trades and shrewdly positioning ourselves in the draft. I've come to never put anything past my beloved Lakers. Never count us out.

I would never want LeBron on the Lakers but if he brings me durant I can't say no.

It won't happen for a couple of reasons. 1) The East. Lebron knows exactly what he's doing staying in the weaker conference. They are by far the best in the east and no other team is close. A much overlooked reason for the warriors loss is the rest. Cleveland played 6-8 games less than cleveland and cleveland had more rest. The west is unpredictable and it has up and comers on the rise like minny.

    2) Lebron just doesn't seem like a Laker guy to me. I feel like he's hell bent on establishing his legacy without any Laker association. He wants to have his own legend not fall in the shadows of all our greats. Hell all of us would s*** on him for being lesser than Kobe. Plus he'd look weird in the purple and gold and white, just imagine it. And he would lose his media adoring for finally associating with us. Or in reality the devotion to Lord James will shield LeBrons Lakers from any hate.

Not crack. Just some alcohol or weed or something.

LeBron has a) bought a house in LA, b) there's rumors his kids are enrolled in school out here, and c) there's been consistent rumors (supported by LeBron himself saying "I'd love to finish my career playing with [Paul, Melo, Wade]". He wants to play in a warmer city and he's done what he needed to do for Cleveland. Now he wants to cash in on a more media friendly city.

Now that doesn't mean the Lakers. It could also mean the Heat which makes more sense. It could also mean the Clippers although they'd have to truly blow the team up to make it happen.

They are probably just pumping this up so they can dust off all those "the Lakers had a chance but blew it again in free agency" articles.

Assuming we have DA, JC, Ingram, Randle, what do we need? Starting center, for sure. Backup center of we don't sign Black, and a starting SG and backup SF for when nick leaves?

I'd still take Whiteside and DeRozan if they'd come here. That's your starting C and SG right there. Likely? No, but it's who I'd go after pretty early July 1st.

i think a 3 and d shooting guard is the right fit, assuming the lakers keep all the youngsters going forward. in clarkson thread, we got into an argument about whether wes matthews was any good, but that's the kind of player i think the lakers need if they're going to play russell/ingram/randle at 1,3, and 4 and JC at backup 1/2.
