I think we'll get both this time. Rickon is a goner :( (Davos probably too).

I'm disappointed in the Arya story line, but everything else has been great.

I was thinking more about the Battle of Helms Deep when Gandalf comes crashing down...someone should make a gif of that replacing Gandalf's head with Littlefinger's. haha. That is the most goosebump-inducing scene for me in movie history.

We've already seen that multiple times though. Tyrions forces being overwhelmed before Tywin and Loras come out of nowhere to save them in the Blackwater battle. The Night's Watch being overwhelmed before Stannis comes from nowhere to save the day in the battle against the wildlings.

You're right. But it's OK in this scenario I think. I don't mind it.

Tonight's episode was quite possibly the best in the series for me, better than the Red Wedding.

    Holy **** that was epic.

Fantastic episode both in storytelling and in visuals. Holy crap that fight scene might be the greatest one of its nature. It was chaotic, wild, and wholly representative of how those fights actually felt. Well except for the 25 foot tall body mounds, but still. Amazing.

Red Wedding to me is still the greatest just because of the epic shock value, but this one is my new favorite episode of the season. Even more than Hold the Door which I absolutely love.

I think that was the best battle scene I've ever seen in a fantasy show. Might beat all the LOTR movie fight scenes as well.

From start to finish, this episode was superb. Every minute was perfectly planned and didn't feel at all rushed to me.

    Bravo GoT!!!

The episode was pretty much the first time the Starks got any justice. Nothing more satisfying than seeing Stark banners in Winterfell again.

Despite the predictability of the Knights of the Vale coming out of nowhere to save the day, this was just a phenomenal episode.

I loved the fact that everyone assumed this would be an episode focused solely on the north ... yet we got some awesome scenes in Mereen. On top of that, this battle scene just had to be one of the most finely directed epic battle scenes of all time. No idea how they pulled that off on a TV budget.

I am so elated and satisfied after watching that episode!

Regarding the budget, I heard that they are given 100m for the season. They spend 30m of it on just this episode.

The battle scene rivals the best war scenes in any movie.

So they've pretty much set up the climax of the next episode:
Cersei is going to destroy King's Landing with the wildfire stored underneath the sept.

Those guys did a truly amazing job. What they're doing on the budget they're doing it is just that: amazing. I mean guys who work on movies and get paid twice as much don't do as great a job as the visuals I saw last night. That was incredible.
