We work out Jaylen Brown tomorrow. If we are at #3 he would be my preference. Love his game, competitiveness, athleticism, and potential on defense.

I really love Ingram, but that dude is really, really slim. I have a hunch he might play more backup 2 behind Clarkson than he plays 3 the first few years, which is cool. We better have a contingency plan at the 3 to get us through the "lean" years with him. There's no doubt the kid can shoot the basketball which we desperately need.

There are really plenty of guys that are as light if not lighter than him. He is close to 200 lbs at 6'9''. His thinness is exaggerated IMO. Garnett always looked like a piece of paper for a 7 footer. He could still bang with bruising front court players and grab 15 rpg in his prime.

The question is rather how strong he is. He can get away with being on the thin side if he has some power. He is certainly going to need to spend a lot of hours in the weight room, like a LOT OF hours.

But its nothing he can't fix in 2-3 years, at least from a strenght perspective.

He has the shooting stroke that will put him on the floor and the IQ to stay there. He'll see big minutes.

Kevin Martin was 6'7" 185 max when he entered the league, was drafted lower, but he still was able to contribute at a rookie.

i'm really not that concerned about ingram's weight. even if he doesn't put on a lot, he's a sf. he shouldn't be doing a lot of banging with guys who weigh 250.

his speed concerns me more, but that length can cover a lot speed/quickness issues defensively.

I agree but to be honest...his lack of speed is a direct result of lack of weight training.

He needs to become more explosive and I think with proper weight lifting and stronger legs he can get there. I'm sure the Lakers have enough training know-how to get him going.

Yeah; here is a good example. He doesn't make a smart cover, but he's able to get to the spot and block the shot.

So you expect Ingram to shoot 35% on threes and Simmons 31%? One has been lights out and the other has taken 3 all season. Hard to believe that will come to fruition.

If Ingram shoots anything less than 37-38% for his career, it can be considered a letdown.

I would be very happy if Ingram becomes a well rounded player. If he becomes 22/7/4, thats an amazing success in my book. But I believe he will rather be a scorer, maybe score in the 24-25 range with 6 boards and 2-3 assists.

Whatever though, hopefully he can become the best he can become and leave no bullets in the chamber.

I don't expect that. It's just what the numbers are suggesting in the method I'm using. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Ingram shoots better than 37% from threes, but plenty of players who shot well on college 3s didn't develop into excellent shooters in the NBA. Especially those who don't shoot even 70% on FTs.

As a Lakers fan, I'd LOVE for Ingram to be better. A 22/7/4 player for his career would make him one of the all-time greats - a top 30 scorer all-time. A 24-25 ppg scorer would be better than Shaq and Wade and place him squarely in the top 20. I'd love that to happen, but it's unlikely.

BTW, those stats are career numbers - not peak values. I'll run peak values later when I have a chance.

    ^I see.

But remember when I say 24-25 ppg...I mean at his peak, not for his career.

If he averages 25 ppg for his career, he would be an all-time great. By 22/7/4 I also mean "peak" stats. As for his career, he won't achieve that most likely.

Look at Kawhi Leonard...he is averaging 21/6.8/2.6 (admittedly with great defense) and is considered MVP candidate...If Ingram becomes close to this good...we are going to be amazing.

Oh. Then we're probably on the same page. I bet he can score in the low to mid 20s at his peak. I also think he'll end up shooting better than 35, and as a Lakers fan I hope he does, but the FT% concerns me a bit.

BTW, I was reading an article on the top 1 and done players from the past decade. Both Russell (#17) and Ingram (#13) were on the list. Not bad.
