I've got to admit that was refreshing. I'm not sure how many young kids even know who George Gervin even is; at least before they get into the NBA. Strong interview and he seems lIke a really good young kid.
As in we're going to pick an unexpected kid? Or we're going to make a trade? Or we're going to be surprised like this Ingram kid is going to be special?
Watching Ingram's interview, I'm starting to feel like we have another Towns/Okafor situation. He's got the same predraft vibe as Towns last year. Ingram is the big prize this year.
This could be true, which makes it a shame that an idiot is no longer in charge in Philly to draft an injured C and instead a Colangelo is running things. They are going to do their homework, and they are most likely going to make the best pick at 1. That is why, despite who I personally prefer, I am still thrilled to get either Ingram or Simmons.
ingram was very diplomatic in his responses. the media was begging him to say he wanted to be a laker, and he had none of it. the pessimist calls this apathy; the optimist calls this media savvy. in any case, not like either dlo or okafor last year, who both CLEARLY wanted to be in la. ingram sounded like a guy who thought he still had a shot to be drafted #1.
Which I kind of like. I thought he came off supremely confident in what he brings and he seemed eager to go to Philly and try to prove he's worth the #1 pick. He won't get it, but I dig that. I think if we get him, we get a really driven and motivated kid. There's some of that Julius Randle type of (how you put it) "irrational confidence" about him. I dig it.
