I heard they are trying to trade the C Bags for the number three pick so they can take Bender.

The problem is no one feels comfortable with Joel Embiid since he hasn't played an NBA minute yet. I hope they don't find any takers

I'm good with having this year be the last top draft position for the foreseeable future. We don't need another rookie with potential next year to wait for his development. We have enough talented youth. Time to develop what we have + either Simmons or Ingram, and build a solid team.

Plus, we also have enough players with good to great scoring potential, but questionable defense.

I wouldn't do the trade, but I wouldn't be outraged if Mitch did it.

I don't do this. I don't even think about it. Ingram has superstar potential. One superstar is better than Al Jefferson and whatever we MIGHT get at #7 or so in the draft next season. Not to mention, with Ingram we already have 4 of our five projected starters under the age of 25. I mean, at some point we have to stop trying to get younger and let the team gel. I'd trade Clarkson for Noel (as I've mentioned in other places) just because Noel would solve a lot of our defensive issues, but we passed on Okafor last season in part because of the fit with Randle. Randle is still here.

I don't know about you guys but I would trade our 2nd pick in a hearbeat for butler straight up.

"The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in trading for Jimmy Butler and are prepared to use the fifth overall pick to build an offer to the Chicago Bulls.

Butler previously played for Tom Thibodeau who was hired this offseason as general manager and head coach of the Wolves.

Chicago isn't actively shopping Butler but are listening to offers.

Butler signed a five-year deal worth in excess of $90 million last summer.

The Bulls have strong interest in Kris Dunn, who could be selected in the 3-to-5 range in the draft.

thought i read that the bulls wanted a high pick AND an impact player for butler. obviously, i'd be out on that. lou/nick/#2 for butler is something that would make me think a bit, though. butler's a top 3 sg, imo. not a superstar, but definitely perennial all star who plays both ends. and he's locked into a sub-market deal for what, 4 more years? of course, i only do this if i have knowledge that i can nab a couple of other impact vets (horford and batum level, minimum).

simplest thing would probably be to just keep the pick and build slowly.

Max Kellerman thinks jc/randle could get us butler lol....i like butlers gm but if we are forced to trade #2 for him, i would hope that means mgmt can get us that other max fa otherwise we'd be wasting butlers prime years. But lets be honest anything short of Durant and Westbrook next yr., we're not going to beat the warriors anyways...they have a solid 3-4yr window barring injuries

I understand the desire to improve overnight, but I'm not trading away half our core for Butler at this point. With the #3 pick I was more inclined, but now? WIth Ingram on board we have four pieces that fit well together, are similar in age, and can develop into a real problem down the road.

    Russell/Clarkson/Ingram/Randle
    Nance and Black

That's a ridiculous starting point on par with any other young group out there including Minnesota.

The only way I trade 2-3 young pieces for Butler is if we have a guarantee from Durant that he's coming here if we get Butler which I sincerely doubt is the case.

    1. i don't think team-building whilst considering the competition is wise. who knows what could happen to gs in the coming years. injuries, FA defections, hell, they could just have trouble replacing bogut and iggy as they break down due to age. would totally change the dynamic. just try to build a contender on your own calendar. it's hard enough to do by itself, much less calibrating it with the rise and fall of other teams.

    2. i was about to write something about how title teams are built different ways and such (which is true), but maybe there is something to using and keeping high draft picks. most championship-level cores were drafted by the team. this is true now (gs, okc, SA, even CLE, really, though there's something of an * there), but it's also true of some previous eras as well (bad boy pistons, mj/pippen bulls, malone/stockton jazz, payton/kemp sonics, etc.). many of those were the result of nailing a couple draft picks in succession.

ok, i've talked myself out of trading the pick.

Agreed, we should definitely keep the young guys. Optimal contracts, new system while they're young, good fit among each other.

There is something to be said about championship teams being home grown. I'd say talent, timing and coaching play a larger role but the young core of Russel-Randle-Clarkson-Ingram-Nance could be something special.

I'm always in favor of trading high picks for proven stars, but for once I'm hopeful that it might actually happen. Ingram is being hyped up like he's a sure bet to be the next Durant. We might not even have to package another key young piece to get Butler.

Butler might not be Durant, but other than Durant and LeBron I'm not sure I rank any wings above Butler. I'll take that sure thing over potential Durant any day. Especially when it might help recruit the real Durant.

I'm liking our chances of signing Westbrook through free agency in 2017. Just need our young guys to stay healthy and have a productive year.

I hope so man. I'm not especially optimistic, but I'm so enthusiastic on the young core we have, I'll e good with either situation right now.

All I know is we'd better not ship any of this young core out for Westbrook when we can possibly have a good shot at landing him as a free agent without giving up anything next summer...or possibly lose him next summer due to bringing him in for this coming season to play with what would be an empty cupboard.

I'm only good with trading for Westbrook if we do a sign and trade. Otherwise no thanks

I'm good with trading any 2 of our young core except Dlo and Ingram together. That would be too much for me with what we know right now.

This position may change by seasons end.

Anyone have any ideas how to obtain a 1st pick next year? There's a good chance we'll lose the pick to Phi next year (hopefully we do as its a sign we've improved). I know we got bunch of young guys already but doesn't hurt to add more cheap talents and supposedly 2017 is a deap draft.

I can't wait for this to heat up when we package Clarkson+fillers for Boogie before or after Westbrook comes!

Kings are too stupid of an organization to trade Boogie. They are going to let him become a free agent and they will get nothing. They are like that craigslist seller who is stubborn and wants to sell a used lawn mower for retail price.
