Really hoping that Luke makes an impact with FA's...lord knows Byron didn't help (and probably hurt us)

    FWIW, another potential lineup:

    Russell/Clarkson/Huertas
    Afflalo/Williams/Young
    Deng/Ingram/Brown
    Randle/Nance
    Biyombo/2nd Rounder/Vet Min

Would be about 31 Win Shares, and those wings could hold it down for a season or two before we turned it over to the young guns full time.

I am an optimist. I believe we will compete for a playoff spot next year, somehow, someway, but I'm not too confident that we can get a big splash in free agency, especially not with a player on a winning team.

My thinking is why would a free agent off a winning competitive playoff team wanna come to a rebuilding team? Not just that it's the Lakers, but a rebuilding team. They have it pretty good where they are.

My dream free agent list includes these players:

Derozan, Noah, Barnes, Whiteside, Drummond, Batum, Ryan Anderson and believe it or not Dwight Howard:dwightcrying:

Only way we get Durant or Lebron is if we get Durant or Lebron, so there's that.

Can we get one of these guys? Two?

The optimist in me says sure, of course, things look good for us. Get it done Mitch.

But realistically they all have it better where they are, so it looks like it may be another year of what we've gotten the past three seasons.

Someone ease my pain a bit if you can.

I'm not talking to you because you suggested signing Dwight Howard.

I think we should go after Harrison Barnes, I love his 2 way game, great locker room guy, height, not to mention friends with Luke and above all still very young. I'd steal him away from gsw, move Ingram to the 2 till he gets stronger. Then go after Whiteside, if not then biyombo.

    DLo
    Ingram
    barnes
    Randle
    Whiteside

    6th man jc

    resign black and huertas

trade lou and Nick try to move up in the draft and get thon maker

Yeah but everyone will be overpaying. It's the new nba man. Dlo will end up making like 30 million a year one day. Plus the Lakers can afford this

Why do we need Barnes if we get Ingram? Give me DeRozan any day of the week. Barnes has been underwhelming in the playoffs.

Barnes is continuing to play his way out of a max contract which means he's actually more likely to stay probably. If his contract is reasonable, I could see the Warriors just matching it so he stays. Ezeli is also playing his way out of money. I don't know exactly how much those two should expect this summer, but I no longer want to be on the hook for the max for either of them.

    As of today:
    1. Max offer to DeRozan and max offer to Horford.
1b. (assuming only DeRozan) give 2+1 to Biyombo at the max.
1c. (assuming only Horford) give 2+1 to Deng at 15-18 million.
    2. (assuming neither) give 1+1 near max to Noah and 2+1 to Deng at 15-18 million.
    3. Try to steal Mahinmi or Pachulia or Mozgov at a reasonable salary.
    4. Take a veteran PG as a dump candidate. Rodney Stuckey, Jose Calderon, and Jarret Jack are all potential dump candidates.

I think a reasonable roster for us next season could be:

    Russell/(dump spot?)
    Clarkson/Williams
    Ingram/Deng/Anthony Brown
    Randle/Nance Jr.
    Noah/Mahinmi/Black

Take on Jose Calderon or Jarret Jack as a dump candidate and it'd preserve a max deal for you next summer. I'd be cool with that team. They should win 35+ games next season.

That does look reasonable, although I'd like to stay optimistic and hope we sign one of Whiteside, Biyombo or Horford.

I agree on Barnes. And as Lakers 2015 said, with Ingram we don't need him at all. We can't slide Ingram to sg. He's just too big to stay up with those guys. DeRozan makes more sense since Clarkson is probably not a franchise, starting sg. Ingram is a franchise starting sf.

As always, I like to prepare modestly and hope for the best! I think we've got a good shot at signing someone, but I'm just not sure who yet. I still feel like we sign one coveted player this summer. Still, if we don't and we end up with a team like that then we still did well. We still will have a good year and they'll be a fun team to watch grow and develop.

This second pick really gives me hope for the future. For a while there weren't just bad, but even other young teams had equal or greater young players to build around (looking at the Timberwolves especially). Now we're going to be on the same plane as them I believe as time goes on. I think in 3-5 years the West will be dominated by the Lakers and the Wolves.

    Towns/Wiggins/LaVine/5th pick
    Russell/Randle/Clarkson/2nd pick

    Nuts!

I think Ingram might have the ability to play some SG, but I'm just not sure I want him there all the time. Just like Randle or Simmons has the ability to play Center sometimes, but do you really want him there every day? If Ingram continues to grow as a player I think he could play 2-4 on any given day. Obviously he'd need to put on a ton of muscle to play the four for any extended period of time, but still.

Was thinking that if OKC blows this series, that may increase the chance for KD to leave OKC to the unlikely, though hopeful, destination of Lakerland.

As much as I have been down on DD, and up on Barnes, if we end up drafting Ingram I definitely switch those two around in order of who I want. Like others have said if we get Ingram we don't need a starting 3 and we'd do better to get DeRozan at the 2.

I still want Whiteside but I'm good with Horford, Biyombo or Noah. Any of these guy is a big time upgrade and a nice complement to our young core, each with different strengths.

If we end up with Simmons though it would be nice to have a guy like Barnes who can shoot from the outside and play solid D.

I don't see it. Even if they lose KD will have came a win within the Finals, had a 3-1 lead on a 73 win team. I see no incentive to leave.

    Excellent.

Draft Ingram. Get Deng. Max a C.

DAR + JC + Ingram is good enough without the need to spend a MAX there. If anything, I'd like a SF/SG combo (not DDR), as BI won't be able to play 30 minutes right away...

    Wat?

I want a mansion that's steps from the beach, but I don't want it near the water though.
