i don't really believe in specialists as coaches. you end up having to favor one side a bit more than the other (i.e., dantoni predicated his schemes on what benefited his offense, whereas avery johnson's offensive schemes revolved around maintaining defensive balance in transition). those are extreme examples, but i don't think a head coach has a philosophy that only covers one end of the floor. this isn't football. now, there are roles for player development and film analysis, even analytics (and the translation thereof), but offense/defense? i don't buy it. i don't think you can just merge dantoni and thibodeau and have a coherent system. you hope for a balance (pop, phil, carlisle).
76ers To Expand Workouts For No. 1 Pick Beyond Simmons, Ingram MAY 23, 2016 11:22 AM The Philadelphia 76ers will work out multiple prospects as they consider their options with the first overall pick. The 76ers are widely expected to pick between Brandon Ingram and Ben Simmons, but they expect to also work out Jaylen Brown, Kris Dunn and Jamal Murray. Philadelphia is also considering offering invitations to Buddy Hield and Dragan Bender. Dang, they better not take him.
Dragan Bender another Porzingis? Second-best NBA draft prospect? http://espn.go.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/15676915/is-dragan-bender-next-kristaps-porzingis-nba NBA Insider required to read. But Wow! ESPN Insiders Chad Ford and Kevin Pelton provide the kind of discussion happening in front offices around the NBA, where scouts and statistical experts are breaking down NBA prospects using their "eyes, ears and numbers." Today the focus is Dragan Bender, who might be one of the two best prospects in the 2016 NBA draft.
I see the 2003 draft all over again. Melo and Wade on the board, Dumars goes with Darko. Mitch better NOT pull a stunt like that!
Really, who knows at this point? We see busts from the pre-draft consensus #2 overall pick all the time. No draft prospect is a sure thing. Knicks fans booed the Zinger pick like crazy out of fear he was just another Darko, and now ask them how they feel about him. Mitch's track record drafting players has been really strong. I trust him. Having said that, I want Ingram.
Well Mitch doesn't want to waste his trip to Israel to scout the next big thing for nothing...Book it!
They are more likely trading okafor for a high draft pick so that's why they are interviewing other lottery talent, according to 76ers forums. It's simmons or bust for them. We are doing our duty as a franchise to interview outside top 2 bc you never know we might trade down for a pick or find a special player. But I'm almost certain Lakers draft whoever is available from simmons or Ingram
Yeah just teams doing their homework. I mean there is still time before the draft, doesn't hurt to look into some other prospects in case an 11th hour trade comes up.
bender's film and stats are unimpressive, but i thought the same about zinger, so who knows? i will say that bender doesn't have the crazy condor length that makes zinger a useful player right now.
unpossible1 thinks Bender will merit a good look from Mitch... You convinced me @sirronstuff, we will draft Bender! Sorry Brandon, Mitch is prejudiced against your school so you won't be a Laker.
All I know for sure is below.... I think the situation is fluid, but if FA addresses SF and scouts see an opportunity for a big of the future....who knows? We have some good stuff going on right now.
I have a big man bias. If they think Bender has "it" then draft him. Although the media noise will probably be unbearable until Dragan shows his stuff.
