Horford should be our target and since we don't have shotblocking in the starting line up, Ingram can be that guy lol...that wingspan is Rodan like...

Yeah, I was just thinking that. I know we need to acquire as much talent as possible, but if we do our due diligence and genuinely believe that Simmons or Ingram can be an integral part of our core going forward, do we go after players like DeRozan/Barnes as hard? I think we shift plans a bit, and outside of Durant, our first calls should be to Horford and Whiteside.

    Russell
    Clarkson
    Ingram
    Randle
    Horford

That'd be a fun team to watch.

My first call is definitely still Durant and once he politely declines, I'm calling Horford. Then after Horford I'm calling Whiteside, Biyombo, and Ezeli in that order. Mahinmi and Pachulia after that.

I honestly might still go after Barnes and DeRozan. We have the cash and need as much talent as possible.

I'm also all in on going after Luol Deng and Joakim Noah. Hell yeah.

For me, it all depends on who we draft. If we get Simmons, then I'll probably want Horford more because he'll be able to help provide some valuable spacing. If we get Ingram, I'd rather get Whiteside. I think Russell and Whiteside can make a great pnr combo with Ingram and/or Clarkson set up for the corner 3.

I have my mind set to play Simmons at the 5, so if we get him I'd go after Barnes with the max. If we draft Ingram, I'd sign try to sign Deng for 2 years 30 million and one of the coveted bigs (Whiteside, Biyombo, Horford)

In either case, Black is a must-sign as a backup.

As long as any of those guys stated can catch a pass and shoot from a DAR pick and roll is a plus in my book. I dont know how many times i've seen Hibbert this past season drop/fumble passes which lead to terrible possessions and turnovers.

Horford would become a perfect pick and pop candidate. Hopefully Julius comes back this next season with a semi-reliable jumper then we'd have two great pick and pop options. Whiteside, Ezeli, and Biyombo would all be very good rollers. Definitely stronger than Roy...

I think Deng and Noah on max deals with opts out each year for us is our best course of action. If we could swing gigantic frontloaded contracts for the two of them (sort of like what we did with Jordan Hill) then I'd be down to snag DeRozan as well. Clarkson is best served as the first guard off the bench, so DeRozan at the 2 is fine. I still have no interest in overpaying for Ezeli or Biyombo. And everyone knows my feelings on Whiteside. I feel like we can platoon the center position with Noah, Black and maybe whoever we pick at 32.

Ingram is going to be a nice get, but even if we somehow snagged Horford, DeRozan and a couple more pieces, that team isn't going to do anything for at least 3-4 years because Russell, Randle and Ingram will take time. So since we are in for a 3-4 year process, I'd rather have veterans like Noah and Deng who can help our kids (the real pieces that will lead us back to glory) rather than players who are focused on themselves.

With Deng and Ingram on board, do we even need Derozan?

I like Noah but with his injury history he's on the back burner for me. I'd love to see us go after either Whiteside or Horford and lock one of them down here. If we can't get either of them or Biyombo then I am up for Noah. I'm not that interested in Ezeli frankly.

If we get Simmons then I am doubling down on my anti-DeRozan stance. We can't have two wings who can't shoot. If we get Ingram (more likely) then I am softening my stance. Since Ingram will be slotted for our three spot and can knock down the long ball I wouldn't mind having another talented wing on board who can slash and drive as DeRozan can. He'll get less looks here and honestly I am not all that sure he will want to come here since he'll be lower on the totem pole in LA than in Toronto where he is their second best player and gets to volume shoot all he wants. His shots would get cut by about a third here.

Miami could, and will, offer him a competitive deal for many reasons. They won't get Durant, and I can't see Riley spending big for Barnes. Bosh seriously may have to retire, which leaves a big hole at PF for them. Deng, prior to getting banged up, was playing great for them, and that team would be in the ECF had it not be for injury.

    They're resigning Whiteside and Deng.

Even if Bosh's contract is forced out because of injury, that won't go into effect until one year after it's been declared that Bosh must retire for injury reasons. That means his contract is still on the books 100% until at best next summer.

Miami doesn't own Luol's and Hassan's bird rights which means they'll need to use cap space to sign them.

Unless Miami finds someone to take Dragic's contract, they literally cannot re-sign all their pieces this summer.

Great points on Noah and Derozan. I completely agree, Noah is the defiition of injury-prone and a team with Derozan/Simmons/Julius would be laughably bad at shooting.

Man, I've been out of the game too long. I thought if Bosh took medical retirement the cap space was instant.

I need to get back to my 25k posts like the CL days.

:D no worries man, you'll shake the rust off. The only reason I know is following Pincus on twitter. He's become a capologist (he's trying to get a job with a team as a cap analyst actually).

Miami is in a little trouble honestly. Unless they find a place to dump Dragic, they're kind of screwed this summer. Even Riley is going to have some trouble bringing the whole gang back and who knows if this gang is even good enough to make any noise? A healthy Bosh would help, but unfortunately it doesn't look likely.
