Maybe they might entertain offers for the first pick, with Embiid and Okafur coming back from injury plus Nerlens Noel. Somebody's getting shipped out?
Just woke up. Great stuff! Can't go wrong with Ingram or Simmons but Mitch and Jim might get cute again and draft somebody else.
. Good point. If Ingram goes #1 I could see us looking elsewhere. I need to do more scouting on Hield & Jaylen Brown. I'm not opposed to letting Simmons fall if Ingram goes #1. The way I look at it is the Lakers either trade that pick on draft day or get the best player that fits our needs.
Yeah. I'm not saying I want this. I kind of like Ingram for this team. But I think the Simmons to Philly narrative is FAR from a done deal. Philly has center..bunches of them. They may look at Ingram as a better fit for their team. I still offer them Clarkson + Nance for Noel though, regardless of what happens. Maybe sign Derozan at that point. We'd be younger than we were last year, but man we'd have potential Noel Randle Ingram DeRozan Russell
Dude. If Simmons falls to #2, you draft him and don't look back. I'd still bet A LOT of money on him being the best player out of this draft within 3-4 years.
I'm fine with it either way - if they take Ingram we take Simmons. If they take Simmons we take Ingram. GREAT problems to have. If an All Star player becomes available for trade . . . maybe. But I'm pretty excited about getting either Ingram or Simmons and just picking up two FA's.
Either way, we're getting a great young player at a position of need. Amazing. Our bargaining power this summer is suddenly pretty damn strong.
High character? Check. Elite shooter? Check. Versatile defender who is willing to defend? Check. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Brandon-Ingram-7260/
If we can get a star player for the draft rights of Ben Simmons I'd much rather do that. How are Julius, D'Angelo, Clarkson and Simmons going to share the ball? Where's the spacing on that team? It doesn't even have a center and the spacing is horrendous. We are going to try to play up-tempo, GSW style basketball after all.
I get ya, but Simmons has been on scouts radar for years. He is a special, special talent. I only trade Simmons for PG13. (or obviously Durant or Steph or something like that). I think I'd move Clarkson. Use him and Nance to try and snag one of Philly's centers, preferably Noel. Shooting and spacing might be an issue, but at some point, that much talent is going to push through. If we get Simmons, we can't go after DeRozan, that's for sure.
I'd rather just keep piling up assets and worry about spacing later. The Warriors have a handful of guys who can handle the ball, it's just about ball movement and man movement. Get guys in a position to be successful. That's Luke's job. The Spurs have how many knock down shooters in that starting lineup? The real key will be defense. If we can fly around and cause problems defensively I don't see any team that can stop our fast break.
@Savory Griddles If all those pieces fall into place, sure. Simmons lack of jumper worries me. Even if we move Clarkson that's D'angelo, Randle, Simmons and Noel. Only one of those guys is a decent 3-point shooter. I've always been of the "you draft the best talent" available mantra because we don't want another Sam Bowie situation. But if we can't get Ingram and can't trade for a good/great player for Simmons, and Jaylen Brown and Buddy Hield are that much less talented than Simmons, by all means. Let's just do our due diligence before settling on this guy, that's all. Because we will need to craft the roster around him, whereas Ingram fits this mold perfectly.
