Wish we'd snatched him up when I first wanted him.

Biyombo is a very nice player, but I'm not giving a dude who averaged 5 and 8 this season, is a 62% free throw shooter, and has zero offensive game if he's not fed right at the hoop 18 mil per year because he's had a good playoff run. Hell no.

He doesn't have zero offensive game. He's a good PnR player.

IF he's not fed at the hoop. He can't create his own offense, and he can't shoot, Dwight Howard has more post moves than this guy. He's a taller, longer Tarik Black. Needs to be fed or he's not gonna score. He'd have been great for Lou Williams money, but not now, no way.

That's even more reason for me to not give him insane money. He's done this for a few games, I'll risk my money on someone who has done it longer. Jerome James has scared me for life on paying players who suddenly have a great playoffs out of nowhere. I only came around on Whiteside when I saw him sustain what he was doing for a full season and a half.

Black doesn't have Biyumbo's size. That's a big factor. Nor is he anywhere near the the rim protector he is. Biyumbo is a starting caliber center in this league. Does he have much of an offensive game? No, but how is that different than any other center in today's game outside of DMC? I love his game and the way he's playing. The Raptors didn't even miss Jonas because of his presence. To me he's the third best center on the market. I would say Noah, but he's too brittle.

Weezy, Biyombo has played this game at an increasing level for the past three seasons. Even if he stagnates, he's a $10m player. But he's 23! His per36 over the last four seasons: 6/12, 8/12, 9/12, 9/13.

I would sign Biyombo to the following:

    1/21
    2/43
    3/51 (option or full)
    4/60

I think all of those are fine. Max for one or two years but past that and he's getting less than the max for sure.

That works for me too. I see his potential, but he's a risk.

my latest thoughts have been that the next couple of summers are less about getting the next kobe and more about getting the next eddie jones, vlade divac, or (to jump teams) George hill. in other words, get some folks who might have enough value to leverage into what you most want.

Throw the max or a very front loaded contract maybe to make the Warriors have to think twice to match it. Meanwhile negotiate with ddr as a backup plan. A barnes and Harford plus Noah would be great additions.

Yep. Also, a mediocre team like Toronto can still make it to the ECF. Becoming a contender in the west is a tough chore. Just ask the Clippers.

Yeah was thinking same thing. Who's to say, at his young age, that he has peaked already as far as his actual basketball skills. Maybe this guy who is already a stud with what he can do, is also a worker who will continue to improve. Unlike Dwight Howard. Very impressive. Maybe he is a better risk than Whiteside? For those wary of his contract year improvement? Too bad the latter was hurt and we couldn't see him in these same games.

I'd be pretty fired up to see DeRozan and Biyombo come as a package to play for coach Luuke.

Just another hypothetical question, but what are the odds of D'Angelo becoming a 20 ppg scorer next year and a 23 ppg scorer the year after? And Jordan a 20 ppg scorer and Julius a 18 ppg scorer?

Would your stance on acquiring free agents change knowing how much production we'd get from our young guns?
