The draft lottery is just four days away. It anxiously awaits us and the entire fan base is nervous and rightfully so. Losing the pick would be a huge blow after enduring what we did the last season with the worst record in franchise history. We were in this exact position last season and we ended up keeping our pick and getting a kid who many think can be a superstar in this league. I'm certainly one of them and that's why while I'd be very disappointed and upset it wouldn't be the end of the world for me. We still would have a lot of cap space to work with and along with D'Angelo with three other really good young basketball players and a new coach who fits with the core perfectly. How down would you be?

Hard to believe the lottery is right around the corner. We pretty much have all been waiting for this or at least expecting we'd be in this position very early in the year when it was clear we were gonna struggle mightily again. I've always been of the mindset that I wanted the pick just because of what we had to endure last season. It would suck to have to go through that and not even get a pick out of it. I'm also of the mindset that unless we get Ingram or Simmons we're likely trading it. Even if they do get them they may still trade them for a star if one comes available. For that reason alone it is important and it would be a blow to some degree. Still this would still be a pretty good summer provided we can get a couple of good free agents. There was a point in time we were all terrified the Lakers would retain Byron and the fact they didn't would lessen the blow of losing our pick. The fact that we hired the right coach. A guy who is gonna install a motion offense with fluidity, precision, and unselfishness. Luke loves this young core and you know he's gonna get the best out of them. That is why I'm still pumped for next year even without getting the pick. Still I can't lie and say I'm not nervous awaiting Tuesday night.

Pretty bummed at first, but excited about our pick next year and the open 5 million dollars in cap space.

I never expected to get it in the first place. I'm indifferent quite honestly.

I will be bummed. Another potentially good/great player wasting his time in Philly. All i want for b-day and x-mas is a top2 pick. Pretty please :).

Oh c'mon. You can't be indifferent. That means you don't care one way or the other if we get it or not. You do want us to keep the pick, so you can't be indifferent...by definition. ;)

I feel exactly the same, going back to last year I've always operated under the impression that we wouldn't get it.

Like Mitch I don't expect to get it. We have money to improve and good youth now, we'll get by. We've already had some good Karma in this area, we only had a .125 chance of the second pick last year not to mention a 53% chance of getting NO pick and Randle was a score @ #7. How about JC in the second round? If we lose this pick we still have done very well.

I expect that we will lose it, I'm looking at it like we don't have it. If we get it, I'll be thrilled. If we don't get it, I'll be disappointed for sure, but at the same time, this is our fault for giving away so many picks in trades, and if you tank, you get what you deserve. What will piss me off is if Philly gets the #1 pick AND our pick, then I will start to feel like the Colangelo fix is in.

I'm not going to lie I really want Simmons/Ingram on this team, I would be bummed bc it would help with the mindset that we have more talent, from either the draft or trading the pick to acquire talent, hence speeding up the process of competing

i'm expecting them to lose the pick

use this next season to properly develop the kids and have everything fall into place under luke with a plan set out for the next few years. and then probably end up with a top 5 pick next year

I'd be disappointed. We probably won't be getting a Top 3 pick for over a decade. Keeping the pick could be the difference between us becoming the Blazers or Warriors. Having 3 potential allstars as a young core is HUGE.

I'm trying my best to not even pay attention to the pick situation until it's revealed that we keep it.

I'm treating it as if we have 2 max slots for free agency and that's it, until I find out otherwise.

At the beginning of the season I didn't really care since I thought it would be mid to late lotto pick.

Now, i'll be disappointed if it ends up 4th and we miss out on adding a cheap young asset.

I think it remains to be seen how we'll feel about the pick....ask me in 5 years when we see how great Ingram, Simmons or whoever the 3rd pick is will be. Right now, if we lose it, I'm not losing sleep over it, because then we at least have our pick in 2017 GUARANTEED and we get extra cap space to fill out the roster. I think we're likely going to strike out with every major FA this summer anyways, so we're not going to improve in a very meaningful way. We'll probably still be in the bottom 5 in the league....and get another top 5 pick in 2017. AT least we won't have to worry about any more protections.

How I'll feel about losing the pick all depends on how Ingram and Simmons and co. turn out as NBA players. If they're superstars...yes, I'm going to feel very very salty about this draft.

boom. it's pretty crucial that lakers keep this pick this year. I don't even have time to enumerate all the reasons. it's going to be a rough day if the numbers don't turn up right.

we're the 2nd worst team in NBA. We need that pick. A quality player under rookie contract for next 4 years. That will be huge for us.

.... and I'll watch the draft lottery.
