I now am thinking, if Kobe is playing hes gonna wanna play as much as he thinks he can go I feel like... I do however feel like we should give him the night off every 4-5 games or so on road games( keep fans at home happy) for longevity purposes? I want that top 5 pick darn it to try and make up for the Nash trade and striking gold on a player well have for the next decade or brings us a future star player.
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/minutes/sort/avgMinutes Kobe's 21st in the league in MPG. There aren't "much more minutes" to be played.
Just got home, didn't see this game. Am I reading this box score right? Kobe got up 34 shots in 31 minutes? Why'd he even play in this one 2 days after being sick and dog tired?
It's silly for Byron to even think the two are related at this point. Our problems run so deep this year that our fortunes are not going to rise and fall with Kobe.
You can't say Kobe isn't earning that contract as far as giving what he's been paid to for the fans, playing every game and giving everything he has left.
^ Agreed. I'll never grow tired of watching Kobe light up the other team. It's the only thing I'm watching for right now.
The highlight of the whole game was seeing the interaction between Kobe and Shaq again. That was cool. Kobe came to play as always on 44 fg% too, which isn't bad considering...
Props to Kobe for still being able to get over 40 at his age. He went Bruce Lee on this one after the cut. But still, there is no reason to rely this heavily on him. It's just crazy. I don't like seeing him as a volume shooter. The offense totally blew tonight. Oh, yeah, so did the D. But again, Kobe is still gnarly.
KEVIN DING @KevinDing · 2h 2 hours ago Kobe on his shot-fest, which he said was trying to make a game of it: "Can't just sit back and watch crime happen." Mark Medina @MarkG_Medina · 2h 2 hours ago Kobe takes the blame: "It's on me. Things go good, it's us. Things go bad, it's me."
^ Great quotes. Sadly, this is what we're seeing out there. Kobe trying to keep us in the games with no, (to little) help... and bspn/media blaming Kobe for everything bad heppening to the Lakers since as long as i can remember.
I never get tired of watching this guy play. It's frustrating seeing him out there killing himself to drop 40+ in a loss but we all watched it after we traded Shaq.. I'm comforted by the fact that we were able to build a champion around him again.. The odds are against us because he doesn't have many more years like this left, but there's still a chance we use our cap space to sign another star next summer that meshes well with Kobe, we get the right set of role players in there, & we get to see him contend 1 last time before he calls it quits. I just hope Mitch pulls it off next summer, because I think giving him hope of getting another ring or 2 is the only way we get Kobe to sign another contract.
