So we have discussed Ingram and Simmons a lot here, but what realistically do we do if we get that 3rd pick? That seems like a big drop off in talent to me. I haven't heard a lot of names for #3, maybe Hield, Dunn (who I couldn't point out if he were standing in front of me), Bender. Would we trade it? I can't see #3 getting us anyone like Cousins or PG like people have brought up. It not only seems crucial to get that pick, but to get top 2. May 17th needs to get here already.
I think the base is fine (as far as his feet landing forward, shoulders back) but that slight jerk to the right in his hips and the length of time it takes him to "scoop" from his hip to release point (looks like Kevin Martin) needs work. Guys are gonna close out faster than they did in college on those 3's and long 2's. All in all, it's an okay shot. Needs work, but is salvageable.
At #3 I trade it absolutely. I probably trade it no matter what, but at #3 I have no interest in paying that guy 5 million or so. If we keep it though I'd look at Poetl, Hield, Dunn, and for me the guy everyone forgot about is Jaylen Brown. Brown is athletic, strong, and a good defender. He seems a lot like Stanley Johnson or Justise Winslow.
Brown fell victim to this magical time between looking like garbage in his big moment in the tourney and all the workouts/combine when he can showcase that athleticism. He'll be fine. I'd have to go Johnny Cochran on this: "If its #3, set it free".
What kind of player can we get with #3 though? I don't see an all-star being available for that. I'd want to trade it too, but I'm thinking it would only land us a solid player, who is making at least 5 mil themselves, so either way we're stuck giving money to someone not great.
Let's go Bears! Yeah, I see Jaylen as having some of the highest upside especially on the defensive end. At number 3 I would definitely consider him. Would be a great wing for the future, and is an extremely intelligent but humble kid.
Who knows, a team may catch zinger fever watching bender in workouts and offer something nice for #3?
I didn't get much sleep last night, so my creativity is lacking today, but I think the #3 gets you something pretty good. You just have to find a team looking for a project. There's plenty of teams in that boat. We just don't need another project. If we get the pick at #3 and Brown or Dunn or Hield looks like an NBA contributor right away, then that's the only way I see us keeping him.

It's a good question. I went through that exercise a couple months back and came up with nothing. If it's #3, I think we take Brown and hope he develops into a 3 n D wing. Or we say f--- it and roll the dice on Bender. I honestly don't see us getting anything for the #3 pick to where it doesn't make more sense for us to just use it ourselves.
I saw some video of him last year. He's a huge lumbering 7 footer. I don't see how he fits on this roster or a team that's trying to emulate Golden State.
I assume the Lakers just give workouts to any player that might be a 2nd rounder/undrafted guy. They worked out over 60 kids last year didn't they?

He's playing at UC Irvine, so It's not like the scouts can't already watch him in person. I guess they're just doing their due diligence.
Keep in mind, with the #3 pick we can't expect to get a star in his prime...we're likely going to look at guys that are little bit past their prime or they are on teams where they may be looking to rebuild...the names that stick out to me are: Brook Lopez Carmelo Anthony Derrick Favors Rudy Gobert Gordon Hayward Serge Ibaka Greg Monroe Marc Gasol DeAndre Jordan Danilo Gallinari Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Nikola Pekovic & Shabazz Muhammad (two for one deal) Eric Bledsoe Brandon Knight I think all of these guys are very attainable for the 3rd pick. That's not in order of preference btw. Obviously lots of people will balk at the idea of Carmelo Anthony and Brook Lopez, but I would say those guys are very realistic since both New York and Brooklyn may be looking to jump start their rebuild. I think if we land a top 2 pick....you go into a different bracket of stars that we can acquire, and you won't have to give up as much in a deal either. Either way, if we keep the pick, whether its 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, we'll be in a much better position in trades and going forward if we keep it than we would be if we don't have the pick at all (besides the extra cap space that we would get from losing the pick, which could net us a third max player after you stretch Swaggy's deal...and as I'm typing this, it wouldn't be such a bad situation actually)
Also, another option is to potentially trade down with another team for a lower pick and get another asset along with that 6th or 7th pick or whomever your trading partner may be. There's going to be some teams that may wanna move up in the draft. Still lots of options for the Lakers.
