yeah, they're clearly imagining that he wasn't used properly. 4 years is a big gamble on the proposition that another team of professionals simply didn't know what they were doing.
Proof is in the pudding at this point Curious to see how all this comes together and how good we will be
He had a strong finish in 2025 after the trade to Philly, albeit on a bad team. With them drafting Edgecombe, feel like he kind of got squeezed out there. It may end up being a bad deal, but I think it’s about as likely that he outperforms the contract.
I really like him as a player and think he fits well. But again, we will ask him to be the main perimeter stopper and the 3rd best offensive player in the starting 5. Too big of a ask I think. But I like the signing, just not the deal structure and role
Another H-Town kid! Yeah I'm going to be defending him, when does his occasional dumb s***, but this kid is not a scrub. Welcome to the family young buck!
Sure are a lot of them floating around. Unless you just like saying that. Is your Laker hating homies contingent mocking your a** off today saying we screwed the pooch?
Hey!! Houston has plenty of hoop talent my guy! My brother's mouth is still firmly shut, after that a** whipping we put on the firecrackers!! Now he thinks they are going to trade for Kyrie eventually. Lol. Now..my son wonders why we picked up Grimes, Sexton and Carr, when Luka and Austin are going to be playing 35 minutes minimum a night tho. We shall see how it plays out. I guess 3 guard lineups will be back in favor.
How come Rui gets an X for his poor regular season metrics but with Grimes we are allowed to say he wasn’t used properly? Not fair to Rui in my opinion.
I like Grimes, I think he works really well as a backup to Luka and Reaves. I’m not so sure about him starting next to them, only because we don’t have POA or Wing in the starting lineup. Honestly, who is defending who in the starting 5, that looks like a disaster. If Grimes fully commits to the defensive end, maybe he could bring back the defensive potential Knicks fans were excited about. This becomes a good deal if he can raise his defense and get his shot back to high 30s. If he can mix his creation ability with great defense and shooting this becomes a great deal for us. Hard to say what happens but I’m happy he is here in a vacuum. Albeit I wish it was as a backup.
That's a fair point. Rui was almost always guarding down when he had no skills for due to Bron and Luka. NBA is shifting to 3 guards lineups. Attacking the paint has been very important as a response for teams playing small and focus on defending 3s. In any case, with Luka you're almost always playing 3 guards. He is a forward on defense and rebounds very well
