The DCCU isn't stumbling. In order to stumble you have to be up on your feet and standing at some point. The DCCU hasn't managed to get up off the toilet yet.
Really?!?! I love it. It's not campy like The Flash, which is unwatchable IMO. It's gritty and violent and suspenseful and very well acted like Daredevil. I like it a tad better, in fact.
Season 1 wasn't too great but season 2 has been worth the watch. They are doing a lot of the Batman villains well, ie. Riddler, Penguin, Mr Freeze. I really hope this show leads to a live action Batman show, its essentially laying the groundwork already.
I watch it. It started off poorly, but now its really picked up. The one thing that's hard to swallow though is the kid they got to play Bruce Wayne is way too slight to ever be the Batman. He's supposed to be a 15 year old or so right now and he looks like he would blow away on a windy day. He's a solid enough actor, but there's no way I could buy that kid becoming Bats in a few years. Everyone else was cast really well. I feel like if the end game is to introduce Batman down the line in like the last few minutes of the last episode, they would have to do a jump forward and get a different actor.
Lol, I love the Flash with all its campiness. As I remember it, Gotham just had terrible acting apart from The Pinguin. I stopped watching around episode 4 I think.
Yeah the first season seemed to be focused soley on the origins of Penguin and also focused on some Mob Bosses that I had no idea were apart of the batman universe...
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/flash-movie-loses-director-888994 Original director for Wonder Woman left over creative differences too. "Creative differences", to me, sounds like Zack Snyder and/or WB wants it their way and thats not a good thing. Really not looking good for DCCU, especially if Suicide Squad bombs.
Rumor is that the Aquaman director is also on ice and could leave... Things are looking rough for them right now. The success of Marvel is bad too only because it makes their stuff look so much worse.
If true, this is very good news (stay the f*** away Snyder!): http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/04/29/ben-affleck-and-geoff-johns-rumored-to-have-complete-creative-co/
I'm starting to believe the DCCU is already dead. For whatever reason, they hitched their ride to Snyder, and he has created a world that feels very restricted. I don't know how they break free of the crap he created. I don't mind that it's a darker tone, but its so disjointed already. Even Affleck is handcuffed a bit because of how Batman was made in BvS. He's an old, a-- hole who is really only a baby step above Dexter in terms of how he "handles" criminals. Tortures them, and brands them in a way that pretty much guarantees they will be murdered in prison. I mean, is he much different than a mob boss? Mob bosses send hitmen to take out other criminals. Batman uses criminals to kill other criminals. The only difference is Wayne Enterprises is legitimate as a business.
