yeah, I understand what you are putting down. Like I said if we decide on Messina, Luke, or Ollie I'll be thrilled.

Yeah I've bumped up Messina after reading more about him. And the Spurs have allowed us to talk to him too. Id be thrilled with either Luke, Ollie or Messina. And I think we can really get one of them.

And the best news is Scott's contract was incentive based...incentives he came no where close to making so we don't even have to pay him for the third year we all thought was guaranteed. Still...Byron made way more coaching the Lakers to the two worst records in franchise history than I will in my entire lifetime.

If Jim Buss is truly partial to Luke, then that gives me great pause with him. I don't know why, it just does. Well, maybe I do know why, since Jim was the one impressed with Potato Head's DVDs, and 'Antoni's..mustache? I'm a little worried now, we really don't know a lot about Luke, and I've started to become higher on Ollie and some others. I guess if Luke brings the systems the Warriors run here, I'd be good with it, and he certainly can't be worse than B0ron. I don't think B0ron gets that Warriors team to 40-4.

I have them at 1a. Ollie 1b. Luke 2. Messina. I certainly won't be upset with Luke. He showed more coaching ability than Byron ever has. Get some solid assistants around him and let's roll.

Jim is probably partial to Luke because he knows him. Ditto with Messina. Ollie and JVG aren't as familiar to the front office.

The whole conspiracy theory of Walton being brought over, Jeanie Buss having Jackson in an influencing position gives me pause. Then again, maybe Walton has enough in him to act like his own man rather than being confined to somebody else's philosophy. I figure given his coaching stints in college and at Golden State, he can be comfortable enough to assert his identity.

That's still a pretty lame reason. Knowing someone doesn't make them the best coach available, or more importantly for THIS roster. I'm sure he knew B0ron, and that didn't turn out so hot. Count me in for Ollie, he's done a great job at UCONN, and players love him.

I've thought about that angle. I think Luke is the one Phil guy that could handle everything.

Either Ollie or Luke can be used as recruiting tools.

I'm not 100% sure Messina can be. I don't think Van Gundy can be, but maybe. Jackson, Blatt, etc. definitely cannot.

I certainly like the names we're looking at this summer much more than last time around. I'd be happy with Ollie or Lukie.

That's why you do interviews. You get to know the person before a little bit more before you decide to hire them. Jim's opinion may change if he meets Ollie in person.
