as a tribute to Kobe, they should fire Byron at halftime and let Gary Vitti coach the rest of the game

    Hey guys,

I wrote a piece for AmicoHoops.net taking a look at Kobe's 1st regular season game in the NBA and what has and has not changed for all of us. If you have the time, I'd love for you to check it out here.

I wish someone at Nike thought of bringing the Kobe puppet back for one last time...

That's a B.S. statement just in that Kobe "retired" then. Untold hours of pain, agony and rehab as he has always given to his best preparation .... just to TRY to get back to some semblance of the kind of player he had always been, even if unsuccessfully from the achilles, knee and then shoulder injuries that ended 3 straight seasons. I understand your point but Kobe "retiring" in 2013 is ludicrously the wrong way to say it. Then again we all know your long standing feelings on Kobe Bryant. Just several days ago after he had reached back in time for yet one more real Kobe like game in variety of shots made, effort going to the hole with Dwight there, points, smart play and decent % shooting .... this was your take on THAT game,

"Had a hard time watching pieces of the game ( a 1st in a LONG time ) , what an all time low our "team" has reached ..."

Like I said then .... not even an "attaboy" for Kobe. Well you finally get your wish .... this amazing one of a kind, likely never to be seen again with his all around ferocity to win and consummate level of skill in all aspects of the game ..... generational player .... that you can't stand is gone after tonight. Woo effing hoo!! Huh?

That would be so cool if kobe wore number 8 for first half and then the 24 for second half

This is the first piece I've read so far to make me finally feel the impact of Kobe retiring. This is the end of an era, Kobe is the last of his kind, the last of a certain breed. The NBA is soft now, guys like Kobe and Artest don't really fit anymore, and that's sad. It's entertaining still, but it really isn't the same, just like 80'a ball was different, then 90's ball was different, then 2000's ball was a little more different, now it's way different. No hard fouls, little trash talk, sanitized, end of an era indeed. Kobe will be missed for who he is and what he stands for more than his play because of what injuries and age have done to him, and that has finally hit me.

After tonight, we will be living in a world where Kobe Bryant no longer plays basketball professionally. The last time that was true I was a teenager...surreal. I'm scared and excited and sad and happy all at the same time.

I don't even know how to put my feelings into words about Kobe retiring. Watching basketball will never be the same.

For me, the picture below sums up Kobe. Through the glory of winning and the misery of losing, at the end of the day, he's just a determined guy, always planning his next lethal move in the midst of the current moment.

However, this next one is the one I will always remember him by. One of many great moments we have had with him through the years...

Man, that was brilliantly written by Fish. It's also something JVG said that's often forgotten. It doesn't really matter your talent level, Kobe respects you if you work hard. He guys he doesn't get along with are the lazy ones, the ones' that dont put winning above all else.
