I haven't read any of the books or comics, I can't keep up with that much stuff. The only book Collider Jedi Council really give some praise to is Lost Stars by Claudia Gray which I believe is a young adult book, and because of that they continue to say they're really looking forward to her next SW adult novel, Bloodline. I think it takes place some time between ROTJ and TFA, mainly to do with Leia.

I watch that show too. But I have read a couple of the "New Canon" books. I read a New Dawn cause I dug Rebels so much. I read Tarkin. I have Lost Stars and Lords of the Sith, but haven't read them yet.

I gotta say, I wish Campea would leave Jedi Council. The guy is so annoying. Just keep it the Schmoes, Tiffany and a rotating guest.

Tarkin was pretty good but I haven't enjoyed much else. New Dawn was a little boring for me but I should give it another shot. Bloodline sounds great I can't wait for that one.

The comics have been mostly great though! Vader is dark and interesting. Star Wars is pretty great. I actually enjoyed the three solo runs with Leia, Chewie, and Lando. I'm waiting to collect Obi-Wan/Anakin but it looks good. Kanan is solid but not great.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. The fighting scenes were better, I'll gi ve you that. And I may also agree on Jackie Chan being the most entertaoining overall, but I kind of treat his movies rather as comedies with a lot of action and stunts going on.

But I still like Ip Man a lot better as a movie.

It's all good. Sometimes you just like a movie! :D

And IP man is good, I just don't think it's necessarily better. It's all just preference.

^Agreed. Not going to try to convince you to change your preferences ;). OK, end with the off topic.

The Force Awakens has recently been released on DVD, I guess that means I have a plan for at least one evening this weekend...

Full disclosure, I bought the normal one from Amazon...and I bought the "Special Collector's" one from Target...cause I'm a brain dead fanboy. I'm the same dude that has spent roughly 500 bucks on various Star Wars lego sets. I am ashamed of myself, and I am ashamed of how happy it all makes me.

I agree, he's a downer. I think that's why they have him though, like they feel they need to balance some super fanboy "I love everything SW does!" attitude of the rest of the hosts. I think they are already balanced enough though, Harloff is super positive, but he will say when he thinks an idea or a rumor is stupid. I like Mark Ellis as well, but it's a shame he has to miss so many shows, same with Tiffany. Those 3 should be the core group though, Campea comes across as a d*** a lot.

As for TFA bluray, I also got just the regular edition, pre-ordered on Amazon and it came Tuesday. I debated pre-ordering the Target edition for the 20 minutes of "extra content" and $5 gift card, but it was $25, plus $5 shipping, and I didn't think 20 minutes was worth $10. Plus I didn't like the cardboard packaging I saw in online packaging, looked cheap. I checked it out in-store Tuesday, was glad I didn't get it, packaging is super flimsy. I debated the Best Buy edition too, but I don't really like steel-books and how they stick out from the rest of my blurays on the shelf, I'm weird lol. Plus you just know they are gonna release some TFA ultimate editor bluray with way more extras and deleted scenes and stuff later on, so I went with the regular one for now.

I haven't watched it yet though, I'm watching them in order on bluray for the first time. I already watched 1 and 2 and surprisingly enjoyed them more than usual. They are not good movies, but maybe I was in a good mood, and I dunno, knowing where this is all heading, it's almost like TFA helps the prequels in hindsight. TPM holds up the best, way less CGI, more real sets, Neeson and McGregor are good, the pod race is still fun, and the Maul fight is still awesome. Also, I dunno why, I just love that shot of the battledroids being released onto the battlefield, being switched on, turning to face the Gungans and starting to march toward them. I remember loving it in the theater because it was something so new for SW, and it still gives me that awesome SW feeling. The battledroids in general are much less annoying and cooler in TPM, before their voices got high pitched and they got super goofy.

In AOTC I enjoy the arena battle, the start of the wars, Obi-Wan's side adventures, Anakin searching for his mother on Tatooine, and not much else. I love the look of the sunsets on Tatooine as Anakin rides across the desert to Duel of the Fates with anger on his face looking for his mother, and the short bit where he starts to kill the Tuskens, it's some of the only real early formative moments of Vader we ever get to see. Now I'm watching the Clone Wars series, halfway through season 2, then I'll watch Episodes 3-6 and finally get to 7. I really want to see this whole thing play out in order. If Rebels were complete already I'd probably have thrown that in too after 3. And hopefully, someday Rogue One will fit in nicely between 3 and 4 as well, maybe even the Solo movie, instead of being stand-alone watches, hopefully they'll fit in seamlessly enough.

One thing I hate about Campea is his constant answer of, "I don't care." I get that you may not, but at the same time, we are tuning in for opinions, not apathy. It comes across as arrogant, like he's above it all. I've been watching Movie Talk for years now and I watched Campea start as a cool, nerdy fan. As time passed his ego grew more and more.

For the books, I don't know what your occupation is, but I can zone out a lot of the time while working and I listen to audio books. Might be a way to catch up on some of the good ones. The two I have and have not read/listened to (Lost Stars and Lords of the Sith) are supposed to be amazing.

The audio book thing is a actually a good option for me to look into if I ever do want to catch up on the books and get some backstory for the movies, add that little extra. It's not really a matter of not having the time, it's more a matter of what all I can afford, I tend to spend more on movies and music and games, and I get books used way later when they're cheaper and paperback. Also, at the moment I'm engrossed in some podcasts and some YouTube channels with a lot of videos relevant to some stuff going on in my life right now. So it's more of a priority of what I'm listening to/watching right now is all, once I get through that stuff I'll move on to some stuff like reading for fun. I am reading some books right now, but they're non-fiction and really about me learning some stuff I feel really need to know. Wish there was more time in the day, ha ha, I actually sleep less these days because I'm so engrossed in the stuff I'm reading/listening to/watching. And yes, the Campea "I don't care"'s are so predictable and tired at this point. The other 3 seem so much more into it all than he is.

I "acquire" movies all the time, but I buy the ones I really love and want to support. Same with music.

Support it if it's really good

...finally saw The Force Awakens. Well, two Saturdays ago. Very good...not keen on the Solo incident. Debating whether to pick up the 4K edition or stick to the regular blu-ray. Since then having the jones to watch Mel Brooks' "Spaceballs" for whatever reason.

Saw that and it bums me out. A lot.

I'm still going to watch it and I'm probably going to love it, but I don't like that it's being received poorly already.

Meh I think Disney has done enough for me to trust them. Hopefully they will tweak it and it will be fine.
