That thing is pretty damn cool. You can tell it's a little older because it uses a PS3... When they make a working R2D2 complete for mass production, I'm in all the way.

 

Damn, got me excited already and still 2 years away. I really hope we get Luke through this entire movie, because he didn't say 1 word in the last one.

 

I have a feeling, as many others have speculated, he will be a sort of self tortured Yoda figure paralleling Yoda's place in Empire. I am stoked about Rogue One as well. But the wait between Episode 8 and 9 will suck because I really couldn't care less about the Han Solo movie. I love Han, but we met the guy when he was like 30 years old in ANH. How much back story could he have? He saves Chewie and wins the Falcon from Lando? Then what? We get more rathtar smuggling?

 

Yeah I really don't give a crap about a Han Solo movie, there is only one Han Solo and he's too old to play a 20-something version of the character. Nobody can be Han, or Indiana Jones except Ford, nobody. Unless they go the like teen-age route like the young Indiana Jones stuff so it's so far back in the past it's believable that the kid grows into the Han we know and love, but then who wants to see that? I don't. Don't want to see it, don't think we need to see it, and it's a cash grab.

I really don't care about a Boba Fett movie either. Fett's coolness was ruined knowing he's a Jango clone under that helmet now, that he's that horrible kid actor from Episode 2, ugh. How about some original characters? Or hell I'd even be more interested in the rumored Obi-Wan movie starring Ewan McGregor taking place between 3 and 4, because at least that fits in with everything else and because McGregor was one of the only good things about the prequels. I'd even take a Yoda movie taking place hundreds of years back in the glory days of the Jedi we hear about. Or, maybe even stop wasting some of these cool storylines for cartoons like Rebels on obscure Disney channels, and use them in a movie. We actually get to see Vader hunting jedi down in a movie, stuff like that.

 

I want an Old Republic story. Revan or Bane. Or maybe the first jedi learning the force

The feel of that movie is exactly what I was hoping for. Holy crap... Disney/Star Wars is going to dominate December for the foreseeable future...

This'll be the first Star Wars movie NOT composed by Williams I believe. I think it's a test because Williams is getting older and they'll need a replacement eventually so they'll let other composers test with the anthology films, but not the episode films. They'll do whatever they can to make Williams compose those films as long as he's willing. I think.

This one is composed by Alexandre Desplat. He's been around a while too. He's worked on Godzilla, Budapest Hotel, Zero Dark Thirty, The King's Speech, and the last two Harry Potter movies.

That little score tease in there was amazing. I loved it.

 

Looks like Donnie Yen is going to be facing Vader with a vibroblade, which could be amazing. Interesting that there are no characters (at least in the trailer) that are in Star Wars Rebels.

 

That'd be a pretty cool crossover. I hadnt thought of that. If they're not there at the base does that confirm the rumors that the whole group dies at some point?

 

I don't think they are all dying. It is a cartoon after all. Not sure you can end it with every single person on the Ghost's crew taking a dirt nap. But Kanan is probably doomed, and Ezra...not sure about him. Does he die? Does he go dark? There's even a theory (that I do not subscribe to) that Ezra is actually Snoke. I don't buy it due to the size difference. Snoke has been said to be over 7 feet tall and it's one of the main reasons he's CGI because of the practicality of someone that big. Ezra is roughly 5 feet tall right now and is in his mid teens. I doubt he's going to hit a two foot growth spurt in his last 3-4 growing years.

But Rebels is supposed to be taking place in the exact same era. And the people in charge of the canon have said they are well aware of this.

 

Yeah there's no way Ezra is Snoke. I don't buy that at all. That'd mean a tv show validating the movies which I'm not sure has ever happened on that scale.

The rumor of them dying is because if they still existed wouldn't we have heard of them from Leia at some point? This is supposed to be the start of the Rebellion. When Jedi stuff started happening, shouldn't Leia have told the guys "hey! I knew a guy named Kanan and another guy named Ezra blah blah blah".

 

Oh. I do think Kanan is dead. And something will happen with Ezra where he is no longer with the Rebellion, whether it be by death or turning. But I think Zeb, Sabine or Hera could survive. I don't think you can systematically kill off each character over the last few episodes of the show since it's a kids' show. It's dark and has plenty for adults to get into, but it's still a kid's show. You can't be that dark or the next cartoon you try to put out will lose out on viewers.

 

I don't think so though. The final season or two of Clone Wars got pretty dark at times. I think you could kill off most of the group over the last year and leave maybe one of them to tell the story and be part of the Rebellion.

 

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I know some will die, I just don't think all of them will.
