Oh I forgot to mention. We should cut Byron after we send him to the draft lottery.

Last time was 20yrs ago during Kobe's draft in 1996.

Coincidence? It just sounds like fate is on our side

Holy crap that is FATE right there! Amazing. I really hope that we keep our pick AND move up to 1st. That would make all of this crap worth it.

    Send him where? :wasntme:
He should get the boot, right with the last whistle during the Utah game. But we (FO) will probably waste half the summer or even half of the next season to determin what to do. Bunch of freakin morons.

I see where Thon Maker has declared for the NBA draft. No way the Sixers take a 4th straight big man, so he's ours for the taking. KG 3.0

He apparently graduated last year, and played a year of post grad basketball in Canada. I think he's close to 20 years old.

Yeah he's 19 years old, birthday in February. DraftExpress seemed to be unimpressed with a few of his tendencies. For those who don't like clicking the link the strengths and weaknesses are:

    Strengths-
    1. Physical tools (tall, lanky, fairly athletic)
    2. Motor (constantly moves, crashes boards even from outside)
    3. Capable Shooter (Pretty good form, can knock down at a decent rate)

    Weaknesses-
    1. Feel for the games (awful awareness offensively and defensively, black hole)
    2. Offensive Polish (takes bad jumpers, forces shots/passes, no good post game)
    3. Strength (insanely skinny legs and backside, gets moved constantly, can't take contact regularly)

Any chance Thon slides to early 2nd round for us? I'd take him in a heartbeat at that point :Bringit:

IMO, Thon the Laker Maker goes #2 to us. Just kidding. Somewhere in the 15 to 25 range. No way he falls to the 2nd round.

No I don't think he falls to the second round. To me he's a mid-1st right now with the ability to rise in his pre-draft workouts. He could be a lottery guy if he does well in front of scouts. I would need to see the greatest workouts ever for him to jump up to us at #2 or #3, but he did have an exclusive interview with DE and he sounds like a great kid.

    http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Thon-Maker-Exclusive-Post-NBA-Draft-Decision-Interview-5417

I don't want to transcribe the whole thing, but there's some incredibly thoughtful responses in this interview. The kid knows his stuff, loves the game, and wants to be great. He says he wants to get an apartment 10 minutes from the practice facility so that he can get in the gym whenever he wants. He goes into what he can bring to a team in EXTREME detail. It's pretty fantastic. I'm definitely willing to give the kid a workout at least and see if his words ring true.

Good lord. I love this kid. [IMG] He communicates and is focussed (WOW) like a Stanford masters graduate or some successful young executive already. THAT was impressive for a 19 year old HS player to say the least. Are you kidding me. No wonder it is so long they kept asking him questions because the answers were so great.

I'm an eternal skeptic, but I'm thinking he's not the one really responding to those questions (filtered through agent or publicist). I need to see video of him answering in this way on the spot before I'm impressed.

Not sure where to post this, but I'm watching the National Championship and the coverage is disgusting. This might as well be a North Carolina telecast. I am rooting hard for Villanova at this point because this is horrible. These are kids who are being actively rooted against on national television by this tnt telecast.

Agreed. Pre-game all they were taking about was Roy Williams and how this will be his third title and out him in that special class, like it was a foregone conclusion.

Edit: I typed this up like 5 mins after your comment and it didn't submit. I was rooting for Villanova, glad they won.

That was the most fun I've had watching the NCAA tournament. Amazing shot. Fantastic. Life time moment.

There was two broadcasts guys. TBS and I think USA. It was supposed to be one for each side so maybe you were watching the UNC broadcast?

Nbadraft.net compares Ingram to Tayshaun Prince. I think that's a pretty interesting comparison.

Yeah that finish was insane, first the amazing 3 point contortionist shot in the air from UNC to tie it with 4 seconds and then the great play the coach called for the last shot executed to a tee with the shovel pass to the trailing shooter who drained it for Villanova.
