I think I called Affleck pulling off Batman, but he also seems to be the best thing there. I think this was by far the best trailer, and I still think it still sucked compared to any Marvel trailer I've seen. Still not seeing this in theatres unless something miraculous happens and all my friends tell me it's the GOAT.
Yeah I was WAY skeptical on Batfleck, but I was wrong. He looks awesome. I guess I was just way too jaded by Daredevil (which is one of my shame watch movies that I love).
I can't see Superman in that trailer. I keep seeing Agent Smith from the Matrix, with how scowly and "I'm Mr. Angryface" he always looks.
This last trailer got me the most excited out of all the clips we've seen. That Batman fight sequence was brutal and fast, just perfectly Batman. The primal scream from Wonder Woman as she leapt into battle was PERFECT. Batman blocking Supes and that look of shock on his face, just great. Finally feeling tentatively excited for this movie.
BvS not doing so well on rotten tomatoes. Will hold judgment until seeing it this weekend, but man I hope it doesn't bomb. Could be a set back for the DCCU.
I've heard awful things about this movie. I'm still going to see it and I think it's better to go in with low expectations, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be terrible.
Spoiler: Maybe the stupidest thing I heard about it, but I'm not sure if it's still in the movie Lex Luthor playing basketball. He takes a Steph Curry three and then turns away before the shot goes in. Boom. Your new Lex Luthor is a baller.
I didn't get my hopes up after Man of Steel let me down super hard. I am not surprised it's getting panned by critics. It is of my opinion that Zack Snyder is slowly becoming a hack (starting with Suckerpunch, which was an overindulgent mess of a film). 300 is the only movie where he truly made a mark on Hollywood in my opinion. Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen were competently directed, and I enjoyed both movies. But they fell closer to being decent films but nothing more. I'll reserve final judgment til I see it (won't be for a while, sidelined by a bad cold atm), but I firmly believe DC chose the wrong guy to helm the new DC cinematic universe. Snyder being slated to direct all of the Justice League films is worrisome at best. Honestly, the only thing that might save DC's cinematic aspirations will be Suicide Squad.
I don't know. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of the various casting choices, and I think I have blasted Snyder quite a few times, but I feel like the media and a lot of people in general WANT this movie to fail for some reason. I have read threats on other message boards that there are groups of people who are going to go out and trash this movie no matter how good or bad it is. I would venture to say that if all you did was replace the words DC with Marvel and changed nothing else, it would probably be 20-25 points higher on Rotten tomatoes right now. There is a legit movement against this film. That being said it could still suck.
I hear you, but I don't think so. Marvel gets fairly criticized for some of their safe plays, their lack of deep villains, and sticking to a cookie cutter too often. However, they're still generally fun and outgoing movies even if there's some level of repetitiveness in them. One criticism I've seen of BvS is that it's like one of the worse Marvel movies (say Thor 2 or Iron Man 2), but it tries to take itself seriously so it's also dark and grim. If you're going dark and grim you need an engaging, smart plot. What they've done is try to throw the entire universe into one movie so the plot gets muddled. I've heard it's literally a 50/50 movie in that half of it is cool and fun and half of it is the absolute dumbest. It's just up to each individual person whether or not the dumb stuff is worth sitting through to see the cool stuff.
Also not to spoil it, but I have heard that if you've seen all the trailers, you have basically seen the entire movie.
I do some work for a movie review site and I have to watch it. If you guys want, I'll let you know what I think. I'm seeing it today at around 6 when I get off work.
2 friends of mine saw it overseas. First friend was super excited for it and said it was horrible. Second friend went in with low expectations and said it was pretty good. moral of the story: go in expecting garbage and you'll enjoy it ??? I dunno. LOL IMO: Suicide Squad > Deadpool > Civil War > Batman vs Superman. We'll see.
Just saw it. I'd say it was okay, just don't expect a great movie that's all. Spoiler: A little spoilers The plot is gawd awful. Muddled and makes no sense. There's way too much going on. The fighting is good, but I wouldn't say memorable. It's going to go down as an incredibly average movie. Oh and as much as I love her, Amy Adams has too big a role. She's shoehorned in way too much.
OK. So I saw it. Here's how I would describe it. Spoiler: A little spoilers The first 40-50 minutes felt like a "Previously on [fill in the blank show]" montage. It was a bunch of little choppy scenes that sort of clued you in on the mechanisms of the universe. After they got through haphazardly laying the groundwork of an entire cinematic universe with short bursts of expository information, the actual story of the film (and what we came to see) was actually good and enjoyable. WB got greedy and tried to rush their cinematic cash cow. Not quite to the degree of The Amazing Spider Man 2, but pretty bad. I didn't think they needed to, but a Batman movie before this was needed. I think WB burned a lot of people with this movie trying to rush what Marvel took their time on. It isn't a bad movie, but this movie will hurt the box office of every DC film that follows it. I'm really pissed at DC and WB right now. DC has the horses to blow Marvel away. They have iconic heroes and brilliant, classic story lines. And instead of doing things right, they tried to do it fast. Again, it wasn't bad. The acting was great. The action sequences were well done...but it definitely SHOULD have been sooooo much better. They essentially took two of the most classic comic book movie story lines EVER and stuffed them into one movie.
They spent 2.5 hours on a movie that felt rushed somehow. It's like the put a timeline on themselves to battle Marvel's movie slate, but you're right they should have taken their time. There was soooooo much material they just didn't need. The pacing of this movie is completely terrible along with a lot of bad plot choices. If I had to I'd say it's a 6 or a 6.5 or so.
I really don't get all the hate Batman vs Superman is getting. I thought it was a fantastic movie. I thought Ben was a better Batman than Bale. Not gonna spoil it for anyone, but I thought the whole idea of two superheroes fighting to the death was very intriguing. Eisenburg was fantastic as well. There was a lot of raw emotion involved as well. 10/10 for me.
