Holmes needs to develop consistency with all that potential. He could end up being Crabtree's heir apparent on the opposite side to Cooper. For now, he has to make the most of his limited chances having established starters. Holmes has produced more with his opportunities than that receiver we shipped off to Dallas...
Holmes is a legit downfield threat. He's a favorite of mine, but I agree - he definitely needs more consistency. I wonder how many years Timmy has left in him - Holmes could be that guy. Our 1-4 WRs are pretty nice, honestly. And we're getting DeBose back (return specialist, tore up his leg - knee or Achilles'?) in preseason stuff.

...so I have been watching NFL Today Total Access when I can. In tonight's show, they asked who has the best chance to make the playoffs among Jacksonville, the New York Football Giants and the Raiders. Former NFL players Michael Robinson and Nate Burleson said Jacksonville could in a weak division, the G-Men spent paper on unproven talent that did not warrant it. Their take on the Silver and Black's chances? Surprise, baby! It was all love, baby! Even their online poll had us at 50% better chance with the Jags at a low second and the G-Men last. Trying to temper my expectations but I am finding it tough not to... Everybody else's signings getting more pub but it's cool.

SI is updating mock drafts after daily free agent signings... Oakland projected from drafting Notre Dame OL Ronnie Stanley to Alabama LB Reggie Ragland.
Brynden Trawick - special teamer from Baltimore He has registered 18 solo tackles over three seasons, has posted an AV of 1 each season, and had a pass defended in one start last season. He's a full on special teamer. As a CB, he ranked higher (52.4 but in only 88 snaps) than Neiko Thorpe (45.5).
^McKenzie doing work...solidifying all phases. Two outside edge rushers Georgia LB Leonard Floyd and UCLA LB Aaron Wallace to be interviewed. The latter's pop played with the Silver and Black...
Question for Oakland fans. What kind of player is Mayowa? Asking because Dallas just signed him to an offer sheet. Not sure if the Raiders will match yet, but obviously after the first few waves of free agency there's limited options as far as pass rushers go.
solid rotational player...can play LB or DE...IMO will thrive if given the chance....with that said, i hope McKenzie matches that offer sheet
I'll second that. Mayowa has done everything that has been asked of him. He's not good enough to start for the Raiders because their starting talent is ridiculous, but he's a decent rotational player. To put things in perspective, he came up with some big, memorable plays in his two years with Oakland. He had a safety and a big fumble recovery last year. At the same time, he hasn't registered many QB hurries despite getting decent snaps. In 381 snaps last year, he had fewer than 5 hurries. The season before he had 5, and that was in a year that he played all 16 games and registered 352 snaps that season. So he doesn't get pressures individually. That hurts his stock: he was rated at 50.5 as an Edge Rusher on PFF last season, which was one of the lowest ratings for the position. I think he's somewhere between those big memorable plays and that lowly rating. I don't think he's worth the contract, but we need depth. I'm torn on this one. it's a nice offer sheet from Dallas. Really making Oakland think.
I'm sure Mayoma will want more playing time and he might not get it in Oakland. I think he is replaceable with the draft. Mayoma I'll remember for that game changing defensive play against the Chargers in Woodson's final home game.
