He started off the season very slow after coming off of knee surgery and he has been really good starting around late December. I don't think his game relies heavily on his athleticism, the knee might become an issue later but right now I think he'd be a solid addition. I think the SF ranking for FA should be: Durant, Barnes, Batum, Parsons, and Derozan. If we miss out on them then there are still some players like Afflalo, Deng, Jeff Green, etc.
It doesn't matter if Amare is starting. He played 14 minutes, and the team was +0 with him on the court. Whiteside played 34, and he posted 19/19, 2 blocks, and was +11. Deng played very well, too.
After the game today, this gives hope heading into the summer. I am increasingly becoming a proponent of pursuing Parsons this off-season .
I think Parsons, Batum, Derozan, Durant, Barnes... Pretty much any of those above average SFs would be fantastic and would be successful here.
So you aren't technically incorrect in saying Durant is "above average," but there is above average and then there's Durant.
Posted on another thread but I wanted to discuss this a bit. Did KD or his sources ever come out and say that the Warriors was a place he was looking to go to? I know a little while ago there was an article breaking down HOW GSW would go about making room for him and then after that everyone started picking up that he was going to go there.
I believe KD has told people close to him that he wants to win at all costs and if that means he could find a way to get to GS he definitely would. It remains to be seen if GS is serious about gutting their entire team to get Durant though.
Okay thanks for clarifying. Some people I talk to keep saying KD to GSW is a sure thing if OKC doesn't make the Finals but I don't believe GSW will gut their entire team. They are championship favorites right now, why would they gut their team to add another scorer while losing key contributors like Bogut, Iggy, Barbosa, etc. Only time I see them gutting their team is if they implode early on in the playoffs.
Yeah they'd have to cut or trade Bogut and Iguodala. They'd have to let go of Barnes, Barbosa, Varejao, etc. Basically kill their entire team except Curry, Klay, Durant, Green, and Ezeli. That's a hell of a place to be, but they'd then have to hit the scrap heap for depth. Not to mention Ezeli's injuries are starting to scare people. It would be a very strange move for them to destroy the team that's looking like potential dynasty and trying to build around those other five guys.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--cousins-upset-karl-didn-t-defend-him-222312711.html Not really a FA, but a trade target brought up a lot... I'm just not sure this guy will ever figure it out mentally. I'm not sure he ever gets his head on straight.
