so if love opts out and lakers got him and rondo. Then who else comes to play? Lakers are unexplored territory. Waiting to be mined for riches and championships. Fertile soil.
How do we get both with at most 30 million to spend though? Are they both taking a pay cut? I find it more likely we have a shot at one or the other.
I'd say we sign Love, re-sign Lin, re-sign Davis, take our likely top 5 pick and dance to the next summer when we have a shot at the super rebuild.
For what though? I like where you're going with this, I just want some more concrete ideas to build on. Hill has basically a no trade clause in his contract. He'd have to approve the trade so we're likely sending him to a playoff team if we trade him.
The same reason they gave up on older brother. Small market team can't afford him. They are a developmental team at NBA level. Just very good one at that.
I don't know man this year they're pretty damn good right now. They just gave Houston their first loss last week.
Here is my thought: randle, hill, clarkson picks to mem for gasol and allen. Lin, boozer not re-signed. Love and rondo come on down as free agents. We keep hou pick and 2015 dream becomes a reality. Alright. Back to what we can really do with this roster. Zzzzzzzzz
Good dream my friend, but the cash doesn't work out unless Love/Rondo take big pay cuts for us. We could maybe get at Love and Rondo if they each take about 14 million or so. Then we're definitely not getting Lin, Davis, or Hill back though that's for sure.
For me I'm not just not as concerned about the PF and PG positions - certainly not to break the bank on. I'd much prefer to spend max money on Marc Gasol at C, develop Randle, keep Hill for another year to play 4, sign Ed Davis for backup 5 and 4, and resign Lin for a decent price than overpay for Rondo. Either that or go after Kawhi Leonard for a phenomenal upgrade at the 3. I could roll with either of those guys.
