    My God he's enormous.

You can see it in his face. He definitely looks like he's on juice.

Read up on the new movement based training McGregor is doing. Interesting stuff. Hard to argue with his results.

McGregor called his shot before the fight too. Said he'd get Aldo to stretch out too far and he'd tag him with a left hook. Boom.

I hope there's a rematch relatively quickly. Aldo was riled up and not on his game. I'd like to see a real battle.

Freddie Roach says Ronda Rousey should steer clear of Holly Holm
    Lance PugmireContact Reporter

Famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach knows enough about fighting to form a qualified opinion about Ronda Rousey’s interest in a rematch against women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm.

“If I was … Ronda, I’d stay away from the girl [Holm],” Roach said Wednesday at his Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.

There was speculation following Rousey’s second-round knockout loss to Holm in November in Australia that she would seek an elite boxing trainer like Roach to deal with the expert stand-up skill of Holm, a former world boxing champion.

It was Holm’s boxing that battered Rousey in the first round, setting the stage for the defining second-round head kick in Holm's stunning victory.

Tarverdyan’s cornerman’s license was returned on suspended status for three months, according to CSAC Executive Officer Andy Foster.

It was Tarverdyan who pressed Rousey to embrace a stand-up style against Holm, and the trainer was also criticized afterward for lacking direction to Rousey following her first-round punishment.

“Somebody asked me if I would take [Rousey] over and I said, ‘Well, I would like to help her, but to get the experience the other girl [Holm] has from 35 pro [boxing] fights – she beat everybody, fought everybody in the world and has a background in kickboxing – I would stay from the girl,” Roach said.

But Holm has the belt, Roach was reminded.

“It’ll take [Rousey] four-to-five years to get the experience [Holm] already has,” Roach countered.

What about the idea of Rousey fervently working to take Holm down to apply her judo skills and seek her famed armbar submission?

“She can’t just take her down because [Holm] not only knows kickboxing, she knows the defense to not be taken down,” Roach said. “[Holm] proved it last fight. She only got taken down once, and she got out of that real quickly. She’s a smart girl.”

Holm (10-0 in MMA) will make her first title defense March 5 in Las Vegas against former title challenger Miesha Tate.

The Holm-Rousey rematch would be expected to draw a substantial pay-per-view audience. UFC President Dana White did not immediately respond to The Times when asked about Rousey’s fight schedule for 2016.

Roach, meanwhile, said he spent four days in Montreal last week overseeing former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s personal six-week training camp. St-Pierre has told Roach he’ll decide if he’ll return to the UFC after the session, and Roach said he'd serve in St-Pierre's corner.

“He looked really good,” Roach said of St-Pierre. “He told me, ‘I haven’t made a decision yet.’”

I agree with that. Holm is a dangerous woman. Her boxing really puts her over the top in that sport. Rousey's bull in a china shop techniques aren't going to work really well against a boxer who can stick her in the jaw.

I'm not sure what Ronda could do to change this fight. Unless her boxing defense improves dramatically I see the next fight going pretty similarly.

If, BIG IF, she can get Holm on the ground she's got a huge advantage. But it's not like Holm is just gonna lay down for her. Ronda is gonna have to learn how to avoid those punches and throw some with technique herself. I agree with Roach -- it'll take her too long to gain that experience. She's gonna have to change her game plan and becoming an experienced boxer isn't the way to go if the plan is to beat her this year (or next year).

Surprising and disturbing if this is true what Ronda said. Maybe she really should not get back in the ring again with Holly in case she were to get soundly defeated again.

    http://www.foxsports.com.au/ufc/ron...s/news-story/74a7ed1f0c6a8b6c70198465c94a498c

Edit .... not sure this link is working. Supposed to take to a report of what she said on the Ellen Show about having contemplated suicide following her defeat. (So much of who she is ..... is wrapped up in her success in MMA)

Trying another link above from FOX. Edit again. Odd. Now it seems to have been pulled too. I wonder if there's an effort to pull these reports. But if she said it on Ellen it's out there for sure. She's got a lot of soul searching ahead and a really tough task in finding away to beat Holly. If she wants a rematch.

^^^ she's not alone. Many fighters and athletes struggle when their pro days end. When Hagler lost to Sugar Ray, he couldn't deal with it. Immediately left his family, home, and boxing, and moved to Italy in an attempt to stay sane.

I feel for Ronda. Saw the interview and it was really sad. And she has a family history of suicide. I hope she gets the help she needs and simply beating Holm isn't the answer.

My family has a history of suicide as well. I know what that feels like. I know where's she's at mentally and to put it lightly: it sucks.

That said, it's up to the people around her to help her up and it's up to her to get her head on straight. I hope she does. She was one of the best stories in sports the last couple years. I hope she gets it together, drops all her other crap, and gets back to fighting. I'd like to see her beat Holm, then retire on top. Then go after all those extra curricular activities.

Connor McGregor vs Nick Diaz. March 5th.

I wish Diaz had more time to prepare. 2 weeks doesn't seem like enough time to me.

It's Nate that's subbing in, not Nick.
