Love it. That's exactly how I remember the big fella. The only thing better would be to have a statue of Chris Dudley with his face in Shaq's crotch there while flailing and falling backwards.

Well deserved big fella. Didn't end well, but Shaq brought us back to relevance and dominance. He was the most unstoppable force I've ever seen and probably ever will see.

Shaquille O'Neal. I remember my fifth grade science teacher saying that name - Shaq was at LSU at the time. I had posters of Shaq in Magic jerseys on my wall and door as a kid. And his was the first basketball card I started collecting. What a total badass he was on the court. My goodness. There is no player anywhere near as powerful and dominant as him in the game.

Haha, I remember one of my high school teachers talking about him. I remember him saying how he thought he was going to be the number one pick but didn't know how good he would be since all he could do was dunk. Well, he dunked himself to what, 32,000 points, 4 championships and now the hall of fame. I'd say he was pretty good.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't think he deserves it. To me, statues should be reserved for exceptional players that exemplifies being a Laker. You know the Wests, Magic, Kareems, Kobe. As good as Shaq is, I don't consider him Laker through and through.

I look at him like the kid who graduates high school and moves away and "hates" their family but then realizes the world is scary and some of the stuff their family did were good for them even if they didn't like it. Then they come home all apologetic and emotional and wishing they'd never run off like that in the first place.

Yeah to me Shaq is a Laker. He bounced around and acted a fool for a while, but when it mattered he came home to his respects to Dr. Buss.

Shaq is one of the ten greatest players ever.

He brought the franchise back to relevance.

    He absolutely deserves it.

Shaq was an exceptional player. Rare, incredible, unique and all time great talent.

His best years were in a Lakers uniform.

Shaq is the main reason why we threepeated ... a feat which has been accomplished 3 times in the latest 50 seasons .

Nobody will say Kobe doesn't deserve a statue because he asked a trade in 07 ...

    Nobody is perfect .

I think the Portland run proposal is better. This one is too similar to LSU one.

While I agree that Shaq isn't the Laker Kobe or Magic was, he's a legit Laker for me. I easily tune out what he did before or after the PnG.

He's 7th in points, 6th in rebounds, and 2nd in blocks among Lakers. He also has six of the top seven PER seasons in Lakers history. Given that he played eight years in the PnG, he was arguably the MDE among Lakers!

You could tell Shaq was pretty emotional about it just on Kimmel, even with that smile on his face.

It's hard to look at Shaq and not smile because of his personality.

Yes, I still wish he was as hard of a worker as Kobe was, but he is still an all-time great. I've left jobs before and didn't always have nice things to say, so it's understandable that he's just human and made some errors in judgment LOL
