I know most of our members are on the West Coast, but was wondering if anyone was effected by the winter storm. East coast got hit pretty hard. Here's a video of people trying to drive up a small hill. Doesn't go well. If video not working, here's a link: And a picture of Soldiers guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. These amazing professionals never leave their post, no matter what the weather. Hats off to them. I'm in OKC and it's really nice outside. We had some snow and ice right after Christmas, but it's been a mild winter otherwise. Anyone else hit by snow?
I'm in Connecticut and it's crazy bad weather out here. I live in an old Dairy farm up on a hill, and my car could barely make it up here. All transportation is shut down. Roads closing. I won't be going out for the next few days because the roads are so bad.... and we aren't even getting hit nearly as bad as the states further south.
Parents had 17" in PA last I heard. Crazy. In Orlando it was in the 40s and windy. Really nice. Closest thing to winter we get.
I'd like to live in PA for the Fall semester, FL or TX for the Spring, and do what I want for the summer.
As a warm weather person...I could never fare in cold places. I have relatives in the East Coast [New York] so I can only imagine what they have to go through.
I heard today that 40 people died shoveling snow this weekend. Yikes. We get a small amount of snow here in OKC. An inch or two and then it freezes (always fun driving on ice) and then it goes away. But I've been out shoveling and breaking up ice and have got winded to where I had to take a break.
Sister-in-law and her husband had a tree fall right through their trailer. Tore the whole place in two. They're okay. It demolished the kitchen and such but whole place is obviously totaled. We're just greatful it fell there and not the bedroom. Someone definitely was looking out for them.
That's awful. Glad they're okay though! I realized that my nostalgia for winter storms was a bit insensitive. People and property suffering...not good.
