No top flight coach would take anything but a contender. IE: Pop would never go to a rebuild situation. Could be a great scenario for Scott Brooks, but I don't think anyone is sold that he's the guy to get you over the hump.

That list is really small though, and none of them are available or sniffing the Laker's opportunity.

I'd be happy with Thibs, but I'll take Luke. First person to call him Puke gets a forearm to the throat.

Blatt got fired! Before Byron! Who saw that coming? Anybody willing to give him a chance to interview?

He has to be better than Boron. We should interview him along with Luke Walton, the ball boy, the usher, whoever.

No thanks to Blatt as a head coach. I do think he could make a fine assistant, though.

The players didn't like him or respect him. He was handed the keys to a Maserati when he just got his driver's license and it showed.

The players loved Lue though. Lue has turned into one of the major head coaching candidates and I think Cleveland finally decided, "why keep struggling with a guy who doesn't fit AND potentially lose Lue this off-season to another team?" Just bite the bullet and get the guy you really want.

Fire B0ron and go after Luke or Thibbs NOW. I mean, seriously why wait, why let our current coach continue to do more damage, give a new guy half a season to get ready for next and install what he wants to do.

Mind boggling how a coach like Blatt doing an excellent job over there in Ohio gets canned while we still have to put up with a turd.

I don't know for certain, but I don't think we're allowed to talk to other teams' assistants right now, right? I could be wrong. If we CAN talk to other coaches right now, then yeah I have no idea why we're waiting at all.

Hell I don't know why we're waiting at all anyway.

So is this removing an excuse for the king, or giving him another one?

Well If that isn't proof that your 15 mins of fame was due to superstar players who are actually doing the coaching then nothing is. At least Blatt was on pace for 60 wins regardless of whether he has anything to do with the wins. Byron just has no such excuse.

LOl I just saw this, Byron has won 95 games in the last 6 seasons, he's even had some decent players in that time. 6 divided by 95 = 15.83 wins a year. Ok '09-'10 he was fired early and this season in 1/2 way through but it's still true, 95 wins

He absolutely blew chunks in Cleveland who were a young, rebuilding team with a promising star, similar to us except we didn't really have a promising star yet, (just an injured pick with promise in Randle) so I'm not sure what Jim Buss and Mitch saw there. I guess the talk about setting him up was true. I'd feel a while lot better about having to look at Scott's damn face if I knew the FO stuck him in there to fail on purpose and have a plan for replacement this summer.

I thought you could talk to other teams assistants if given permission? The Pelicans talked to Alvin Gentry DURING the playoffs. I dunno I thought there was a rule about if you ask a team permission to speak to an assistant about a job you can. Maybe that only applies once the playoff starts and your team isn't in them.

BTW, most games below .500 in NBA history:
    1. Kevin Loughery -94.0
    2. Byron Scott -85.5
