Durant doesn't like Dwight either so I doubt he'd wanna come here if he was.

No one wants D12 here and he doesn't want to come back. He wants to be the #1 option on a team catered to him...that's impossible with Durant or Boogie on his team. That's the only scenario where I'd welcome back Scott with open arms and that's to make Dwight as miserable as humanly possible.

I have to admit I'm starting to become absolutely pessimistic about KD coming here, at least this summer. I felt like there was a glimmer of hope with the rumors this summer, but with OKC in the top 4 teams in the league I just do not see it happening. No chance he leaves a contender for a hot mess like we have right now. They are going to strike out on him completely. Better they set their sites on Batum, DeRozan, throw a max at RFA Barnes, shoot for Horford or Whiteside at C. We have two gaping holes to fill at SF and C.

My hope is after OKC loses to San Antonio or Golden State KD comes to realization that they can't beat either of those teams and wants to go to a team with a lot of young talent albeit unproven in hopes that he can build a dynasty in LA. He can have his choice of any star he wants to bring with him. If Ben Simmons is everything that people say he is and the Lakers get the #1 pick then I would think that would only increase the chances of getting Durant.

Honest question: What's a more attractive team to KD?

    Russell/remaining cap space FA
    Clarkson/Lou
    KD/Young/Brown
    Randle/Nance
    Horford/Black
    +
(If we keep our pick, we have Simmons or the #2, or #3 pick to keep or trade for something really nice)

    Or

OKC's current team, with a strong chance Westbrook leaves the following summer

We aren't getting any ONE good FA by himself. But, if there's Miami/Boston/Cleveland big 3 collaboration stuff behind the scenes, why couldn't that happen in LA?

That's the likeliest scenario I see for us nabbing KD. Or under that same scenario you laid out, I could also see him coming to us in a *wink wink* type of deal to trade Ben Simmons in August for a proven star on a rebuilding squad (Cousins or Paul George), similar to the LeBron/Wiggins/Love deal in Cleveland 2 years ago.

I don't know. KD says he loves OKC, and he might. It's allegedly pretty chill.

    Lakers trade: Hibbert, Kelly
Lakers receive: Noah, Hinrich, 2nd rounder (they have two, but they'll end up keeping only the worst one, which they could send to LA).

Who'd be on board with that? Would give us control of Bird Rights for two pieces that would be of benefit for veteran stability.

    Russell/Hinrich
    Clarkson/Williams
    NEW SF/Young/Brown
    Randle/Nance/(Bass)
Noah (new deal, max years, lower $)/Black/(Sacre)

The Noah deal could be five years, starting at 8.0M, totaling $46.5M.

Next season's salaries/cap holds (>what we offer them)
    Russell 5.3/Hinrich 5.4 > 2.8
    Clarkson 5.6/Williams 7.0
    Young 5.4/Brown .9
    Randle 3.3/Nance 1.2
    Noah 17.7 > 8.0/Black 1.2
    43.1M

    DeRozan 25.3
    Whiteside 21.0

    89.4M

    Russell/Hinrich
    Clarkson/Williams
    DeRozan/Young/Brown
    Randle/Nance
    Whiteside/Noah/Black
(and we have salary for a 2nd rounder/vet min/this doesn't include the possible top 3 pick)

I mean the only way we should take him back is if it means we attract another superstar like a Durant to come here. Plus, it's a second chance for Dwight to make things right with us. I know we all hate Dwight, but the whole reason it hurt so much the first time he left is because we got nothing in return, and without a star player on our squad, we couldn't attract other FA's. But in any case, it's highly unlikely we get Dwight anyways, so no point in entertaining it.

Looks like we're trying to trade Bass as well...but man, why aren't we trying to trade Lou? We need to develop Russell and Clarkson and as long as Lou is around, one of those two is going to be restricted as far as opportunity / minutes go. I know Lou is on a nice deal, but if we can get something nice for him (a first round pick or a few early 2nd round picks), I don't see why we don't unload him, or at the very least get a wing for him so fill the gaping hole at 3....

    Brandon Bass, Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have been making calls to gauge what some of their veteran players are worth. The obvious answer on many of the higher dollar guys is not much. The Lakers are said to be open to trading guard Nick Young and center Roy Hibbert, but neither seem overly attractive on the trade front, especially if the Lakers have to take on salary that runs into the 2016 salary cap year.

The player that’s more likely to be moved is forward Brandon Bass. The Lakers tried Bass on at a low dollar amount hoping he could contribute and be something of a tutor for forward Julius Randle. With the Lakers going nowhere fast, Bass is one of the guys the front office is expected to move by the deadline.

Bass has been nursing a problematic foot, so that is a concern, but the sense is the Lakers will be players at the deadline and Bass could be on his way out.

Whiteside had 23 and 18 tonight. He's only a 53.5 percent FT shooter on the season. He's averaging only 0.3 assists on the season. TS is 60%. He only gts to the line under 4 times a game. Elite rebounder. Scores everything around the rim. Randle would need to improve his shooting if we acquire Whiteside. Whiteside would be great for Russell, though, since he finishes everything thrown around the rim.

It is a no brainer. As talked about before were so talent starved that we can't be picky. He's been playing at a high level for over a year now. Perfect fit. Big upgrade in a position of need.

I like Bass a lot. Always have and thought he was a great addition to the team. That said with Nance's break out, I just don't see a place for Bass here. Good dude, hard worker, but he shouldn't be playing the 5 and he's third string at the 4. If Nance hadn't have proven to be so good it would be a different story right now. I'd like to see him moved.

At this point, if we get KD Mitch should get some kind of Lifetime Achievement/ Best GM of All Time Award.
