The Resurrection of Jake The Snake was a really good documentary about battling addiction through friendship, love, support, and determination. Several tears were shed.

Not a movie, but have you guys watched "Making a Murderer"?

    It's fascinating.

A couple of us commented on it the page prior. I loved it.

I'm not sure if he did it or not, but the police planting evidence is enough for me to think he deserves a retrial.

Oh totally. He might have done it, but NONE of what they used is even close to strong evidence. There's so many holes in that trial I don't understand. I was yelling loudly at my television.

I'm surprised to see you rate Mazerunner the best of that bunch.

Finally saw "The Martian" yesterday. Pretty good. Damon is compelling, the story is compelling, and there are many solid supporting performances. It won't change your world, but it's definitely worth a watch.

Me too. I watched it in one day and then watched it the next day with my wife. Fascinating television. Those cops were so corrupt. The story of the bedroom and garage just doesn't add up.

Just got back from it. Bay does it again. And not over the top like he's known for. Just a very realistic movie about a horrible situation, top to bottom.

I don't comment as much on movies, but I think over at CL I said my main objective when grading movies is was it entertaining for me? Mazerunner kept me entertained all throughout the movies (Except for that one part in the middle), Sicario set the tone early in the movie but kind of just went downhill the rest of the way and the MI movie was a let down for me because I felt the last one was more entertaining. I have an odd take on movies I guess.

Take the 13 hours Benghazi movie for example. I would rate that 10/10 easy because the movie set the bar high in entertainment, edge of your seat feeling all throughout the movie and had points where it went up, not down like other movies.

That was one thing I was really concerned about going in. I said if Bay goes over the top, he's going to ruin this movie, but he didn't, it was the perfect mix of story telling and special effects. He did a great job of letting the story dominate the movie.

I saw another movie this weekend as well, The Revenant.....

I don't get how this movie is up for so many awards? I saw it with my mom and we were both like mehh to that movie when it was over. I think what did it for me was the outrageous series of events Leo's character goes through in terms of, "Ok this dude should be dead in those conditions with what is wrong with him." I think they overdid it in that regard and really turned me off to the movie.

Agree with both of you on the Revenant.

    So overrated.

I mean as the defense lawyer how do you not walk in and just ask, "where is the blood?" Then get a forensic team to be expert witness and show that you cannot possibly expunge all the blood from either the garage or the bedroom or whatever fabricated story you want to use in six days. There would still be some DNA evidence somewhere in those locations.

Is that not air tight enough?

    Saw some over the weekend...

-Hateful 8: I'm a huge QT fan, so I loved it. It doesn't top Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, or Django for me though. It was a bit long and slow, but that led to a great slow build for a hell of a 3rd and final act. Really enjoyed the who 'dun it aspect of it. The confined location reminded me a little of Reservoir Dogs. The dialog was top notch, as you come to expect with one of his films. Same goes for his over the top/shocking violence too
I hate Tatum, so I loved seeing the leftovers from his brain being splattered all over his sister.
Was very glad to see Goggins (Boyd Crowder from Justified) was finally given a sizable role in a big movie -- hell of an actor. Wasn't expecting that but with the
early/unexpected death of Kurt Russell's character,
Goggins has some room to operate. I read Tarantino plans on making it a play next, that would definitely be interesting.

-Ant-Man: They really took a leap of faith with this one. There's 100 reasons why this shouldn't work, but somehow it does surprisingly enough. It was an entertaining break from the normal Marvel flick and Rudd carries the weight of it (large part of what works with the film).

-Sicario: I like Blunt a lot, but hated her character. Brolin is still playing TLJ fron MIB 3. Del Toro stole the show, the rumored spin-off focusing just on his character would be a must see from me. Very good movie, overall though.

-Last Witch Hunter: It's really tough for Vinny to succeed with a new original property, guess that's why he keeps going back to the well of his prior hits (Riddick, FF, xXx). Definitely not for everyone and I can't even argue it was a quality movie. I liked it as a one time view, could've easily waited to watch it on TV though. Good cast and it had a couple of twists to keep you engaged.

Looks solid. I'll definitely give it a shot.

I heard they're going to connect this to the crappy Jeremy Renner one somehow too.

The Revenant: A. It's long and rough, but really really good.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi: B. It's really really solid and I think it's a story that deserves WAY more attention than it gets. I'm not a big Michael Bay fan, but I thought he did a good job.

Saw Kung Fu Panda 3. I'm a big fan of the first two. This one was mixed for me. Some parts were the best moments of the series, and some parts were the weakest. But if you like the other movies you will probably enjoy it like I did.
