Right? Out of the absolute mess of a production beforehand, the film itself came out great.

What do these movies have in common?

    Creed
    The Hateful Eight
    Revenant

All are out as Screeners right now. Perfect quality too.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens- 9/10. It's got a few plot holes and at least one point of really bad writing/acting, but the overall feel of this movie is amazing. So much fun, so many references to older movies, so much for the young kids and the older generations to enjoy. Honestly it was just so much fun to be in the movie theater.

I've seen it three times and I'm as biased as can be, but even if you're not a big Star Wars person this is a fun movie to watch. I promise.

The Hateful Eight -- the dialog was as great as all Torantino movies. If you like his movies, you won't be disappointed. I'd give it a very solid 3 out of 4 stars.

The Revenant -- I was hugely disappointed. Maybe I went into it with too high expectations, but this was slow and frustrating. What could have been a great 1 1/2 hour movie dragged out to 2 1/2 hours and very few surprises (if you've seen the previews you've seen 80% of this movie). Leo was good, in limited dialog, but don't expect him to win any awards. Tom Hardy was great and almost difficult to recognize. 1 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Spotlight -- really enjoyed this. About a journalist team that researches various issues / scandals for a year or more and then exposes it. They took on the Catholic church (you probably heard about the scandal from 2001). That's what this movie was about. Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton were fabulous in it. 3 out of 4 stars.

Concussion: C. Honestly it was not that entertaining. It's mostly about the Doctor's life as opposed to the NFL or the repercussions of something like this happening. I mean they TALK a lot about the repercussions but that's it. The down moments in the lives of the NFL players are heavily dramatized. There's a LOT of religious overtones that I wasn't expecting that hit you in the face like a hammer. Will Smith was pretty good.

Luke Wilson as Roger Goodell is laughable. Not because he's a bad actor, but because he looks nothing like him. :D Took me out of the movie.

You can probably pass on this one and be okay. Very little entertainment value in it.

Had no desire to see Concussion honestly. Will Smith's awful accent "tell da trootuh" reminded me of Halle Barry's horrible accent in the first X-men movie.

The accent never really feels 100% natural, but I mean you're looking at the clean cut face of an American actor we've seen a thousand times before. Any kind of accent he tries will come off fake because we know him already. Props for trying and he did a decent job of sounding like a guy who is speaking with an African accent, but uh... we know it's not real Will.

I was interested purely for the scientific side of it all. I played football. I wanted to see a visual representation of what I could be in for. Somehow they even missed that mark even though it was set up for them. You get some of it and you get some of the fear, but then it turns into a story about his wife an about his life/kids and it moves away from the real science behind the concussions.

    Snooze fest.

Making a Murderer -- a Netflix original documentary. 10 part series. 9.4 on IMDB.

I watched the entire series today and am fascinated by the story, the injustice, and the corruption.

Please, do yourself a favor and watch this series. It's amazing! I'm not trying to be overboard, but this might be the greatest series of I've ever watched. Definitely the greatest documentary I've seen. I'm confident you'll love it.

^^ Making a Murderer is fantastic. I was fascinated the whole time.

Hateful 8 - I thought it was great. If you like Tarantino, you'll definitely like it. The different reactions to that door are hilarious.

The Revenant - I agree it was maybe a touch too long but I really liked it. The bear scene is epic, and the cinematography is unbelievable. I can't think of another movie I've seen that uses that many long takes. I don't have to even know what else is nominated, I'd be shocked if it doesn't win an Oscar for cinematography.

Watched a couple movies in the past two weeks (Sorry if already discussed)

The Gift - 1/10. Just terrible. I was waiting for this movie to pick up and it never did. Plot was awful and the acting was very sub-par aside from maybe Gordo. If you haven't seen it, you are not missing anything.

Sicario - 6/10. Pretty cool movie, ending was a bit meh, but overall it kept me entertained all throughout. Could have used a bit more action scenes.

Blackhat - 5/10. This one definitely could have used more action scenes, felt like the movie was dragging in a couple different blocks, ending was good. Could have been so much better than it was.

Mazerunner Scorch Trials - 7/10. Would have rated it higher if not for the middle-end movie scene where they go to the party. Just seemed way out of line with story and I don't understand how those people weren't attacked by the infected people. Happy to see there will be a 3rd one, definitely looking forward to it.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 6/10. Felt like it was a step down from the previous MI but it was entertaining nonetheless. I really enjoy this series of movies.

Self/less - 5/10. Nothing really stood out, nothing really turned me off during the movie. Entertaining, but definitely won't watch it again. Average movie.

Apparently there is going to be a Cloverfield sequel/spin-off coming out in March. I loved the original movie so I'm super excited for this and the trailer (only a leaked cam version so far) looks like a really interesting premise.

I watched Bridge of Spies and thought hey this guy who played the Russian spy is a great understated actor and absolutely likable...Moments after the movie I saw the Oscar nominees lol. The guy could give Sly a run for his money.

Saw Hateful 8, nice (great ending)... but a little too long. Tim Roth's character tries to be Christopher Waltz i guess :)
    Comes wayyyy short though ;).

If you were planning on seeing the Benghazi movie go see it immediately. If you weren't planning on seeing it, go see it immediately.

    Seriously great movie.

Nice! I've been waiting for a sequel to this movie the moment I stepped out of the theater, nauseated and all. One of the few found footage movies done right. It felt real.
