Mark Medina @MarkG_Medina Byron Scott says he needs more from Carlos Boozer specifically on defensive pick and roll coverage Sorry, Scott; if Thibs couldn't get it out of him, you're not going to have very much success.
Boozer's just extremely limited. He's not a good rebounder, defender, finisher. He's got one thing going for him, his midrange, and even that is shaky.
The Booz Hill combination defensively just hasn't been good out there. I thought Hill and Davis would be redundant but with the way that Hill is shooting that mid-range which is Booz's specialty, Hill and Davis look pretty darn good together. The rebounding and D are of course massively improved, too. I'd be tempted to have Booz play with the bench guys for some veteran scoring presence at this point. The starting squad could be greatly improved with Davis in there.
When Scott mentioned that his vision for this team was to be 1) Physically aggressive. Throw the first punch. 2) Draw fouls, and force and 1 opportunities. 3) Play Defense. I wondered why Booz was even on the floor. Booz doesn't do any of those things. He's a rebounder and a mid-range jumpshooter. That's it.
Boozer is quick and a good athlete. I have no idea why he doesn't play better; he's fallen into Antawn Jamison syndrome late in his career - just wants to shoot the ball.
Should have never picked him up. Now we are stuck with the privilege of being forced to play him major minutes every game because has that veteran name. What a waste of cap space, roster spot and time.
Pau needed to go ... 3 years ago but no doubt washed up Pau is still way better than Boozer. I feel a good portion of board was not aware of how bad Boozer currently sucks ... his Utah days are long gone
I didn't think he was that good in his Utah days. I said it on the GD chat, I loved playing Utah in the playoffs because of Boozer. He's never struck me as a must need player to win.
At least he could put points on the board back then ... I agree with you he was never an impact player
I feel foolish for believing he could contribute. At this stage I feel like inking him with identical tattoos to Sacre and equipping him with a towel at the back of the bench to be a cheerleading tag team. Knowing Boozer he would probably towel whip a ref by mistake and earn the team a flagrant foul. Last game he contributed by almost standing on a Suns player and by raising the blood pressure of Kobe to death stare levels by missing open layups.
