I'm liking how Kobe hasn't played a full 12 minute quarter.

8-9 minutes per quarter is perfect and keeps him fresh.

This year Byron will probably end up earning an "incomplete" with us. I mean, what is he supposed to do here, with this roster and all the injuries? Keep Kobe fresh, I guess. Work on some defensive schemes.

He switched defenses a few times last night and it definitely helped us get back in the game.

Needs to do better than a handoff to Kobe at the top of the key at the end of the game. Kobe can get the shot he had whenever he wants to, why not try to get Lin or Ellington a look 1st and run that secondary if it fails?

I'd really like to see Kobe more at the SF spot; Ellington at the 2 or whomever. Also, I noticed we took 20 three point attempts, shot 51% from the field, and got to the line 28 times...probably the best offensive balance I've seen so far.

He exudes 'cool' and 'control' much the way riles did pacing the sideline. Scott is the perfect coach for setting an example with this team. Great hire. No more stupid guy smiley grins or dopey looks in out of shape coach.

The announcers said it, I said it in GD, too: you can go for two and then foul DeAndre. Why wasn't that an option? We didn't need the three.

Perhaps the thought was b2b and old Kobe. I don't know.

But I agree; we have some three-point shooters other than Kobe, and probably better than Kobe - so why not draw it up, coach?

I've got to think this is growing pains in his relationship with Byron. I have to think Kobe wanted it and called it and thought he could get it. Next time I hope Byron says "let's do this. You're our ace in the hole, but we need these guys to grow with you."

I know we're a little short staffed with the injuries, but seriously, how does he not notice that Wes is absolutely garbage out there?

He needs to be limited to 15-0 minutes.

And play who though? We don't have a lot of options at SF.

One option is Ellington to play SG and Kobe SF, hell, as rusty as Henry has looked, have him take Wes' minutes too.

I guess so. I'm done with trying to support Wes so I'm alright with that. I just don't like Kobe having to guard bigger and stronger players. Every time he's guarded by a stronger guy I get nervous about injury.

It's either that or he has to try and keep up with the 1-2 combo guards nowadays.

If he's guarding "stronger" SF, I would imagine he'll do more bodying up than chasing, which may fare better on his achilles/knee.

Maybe, but the literal force required to body those players up makes me nervous. I'd rather he not have that kind of pressure on his knees.

Growing pains for sure. SF is our weak spot without a doubt. And it's even more so with Swaggy P out. On the bright side I do love that Duke Ellington is making his shots now.

Duke Ellington was one hell of a musician. I have no idea about his basketball skills however.

Sir Duke!! One of my favorite composers/musicians/bandleaders of all time. So glad he's on our squad this year shooting lights out now. Oh yeah, that's Wayne . . . I just can't help calling Wayne Sir Duke every time I see him out there.
