I think a legitimate argument can be made that we have the best young core in basketball outside of the Warriors. D'Angelo showed that killer instinct tonight. Jordan scored at will basically until the ankle injury. Julius was a monster once again on the glass and his energy level was once again top notch.
We got 3 young guys who aren't afraid of the big moment. They'd probably have to fight eachother off for those moments. What a luxury.
I was happy to see them finish the game... I am literally not mad at this loss... I'm glad DAR and JR got to play an extended period of time and finish the game...
Watched the 4th quarter with the LP archive and I was excited to see our future making plays in a close game !
Good for them! It's clear to them Byron is a horrible coach who is jacking them around with his changes and NO explanations on what he needs and wants to see from them, so how the f*** are they supposed to fix anything. So they are saying f*** you in their heads.
My what a day that was! I know we're all feeling more optimistic right now but here's one I particularly picked up on (especially from @Weezy 's quotes from Julius): Julius and D'Angelo seem much more connected now. Byron Scott has been called an old school coach, well he's resorting to the oldest school you can which is drill sergeant. He's given the two of them something to unite against by benching both of them at the same time. They've been much more closely linked the last two games than the previous few combined. Watching the two of them pick their spots and look out for each other on the floor has been a treat and has FINALLY given us a picture of what we can see going forward. Wow they looked great out there. FINALLY we get to see what our future is supposed to look like. FINALLY we show potential FAs that our young players are capable of living up to the moment and playing big. I know Julius has already made his mark on a bunch of players including Kobe and Dirk who are widely respected around the league. The Knicks were terrified of him earlier this year. Clarkson is a 1st Team All-Rookie type of player and while he's hit a couple of snags the last two games, it's clear he's a good player but now... Now we're getting a good look at what D'Angelo's future holds and ooooh it looks great. I sincerely hope THIS is the formula moving forward and we get to see what these young guys can do at the end of games.
I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but it made my night. Came across a new-in-box Chick Hearn bobblehead at the thrift store across the street from my house tonight for $6. I almost didn't go over and look around in the knick-knacks and decorations section, but I did at the last minute and there it was.
I didn't see the game, but I was following the score online. Has to be a positive that we stuck with a team this good until halftime, right? That's an improvement over game over at halftime. And Russ with 24/6/6, that's a good line. I saw that he took a lot of shots, but he made half his threes, so that's good. If he's a guy that can consistently put up great numbers when given time, that has to help give us a feeling of relief about our future being ok.
^^ And he was killing it in the first half Weezy. I think he was 6 for 10 in that first half. Kind of fell off in the third quarter but the whole team went flat so it wasn't just him.
Yeah D'Angelo is terrific. He's gonna be that guy for us. The franchise superstar. A guy everyone will wanna play with. People questioned whether he could score at this level and he's making it look pretty easy. Only gonna look even better when we get a real coach.
Russel is a star on the making. No fear in his eyes, plays way over then his age. I think the knowledge he gets from Kobe this year is priceless in any means. Next year he is gonna drive this team on the fast lane... just hope Randle and Clarkson will be able to click with him, because if does - something special will happen.
Optimism for 12/15/2015: As of this morning, the Lakers sit only 6.5 games back of the Jazz for the final playoff spot. A guy can dream can't he?
