Unfortunately, no surprise here. It was wishful thinking that they would can Byron mid-season even if he completely sucks and is royally underachieving. As we've said here, the FO knows that it's the Kobe goodbye tour and are banking on that. They aren't making the playoffs so the more losses the better their chances to keep the pick. Really, the only lingering question is will Byron be too stupid and stubborn to develop the kids? Last night Kobe had to tell the numbskull to keep them in the game. But at least he rolled with that. I don't think the FO will stand for much of this benching the kids experiment, or at least I hope they won't.

This year is a lost cause as far as HC. Might as well play it out with the tank commander. The big issue is next year. Forget evaluation - Byron NEEDS to be gone at all costs. He's had plenty of time to show that he's not the guy we want moving forward. 2 years is enough. We need a brand new, fresh start and direction.

Couple things down the stretch of that game:

1.While admirable, Sacre played too long down the stretch. He's good in the pick and roll, but he fouls way too much. Don't know why we're not seeing Tarik at all.

    2. Would have like to have seen Clarkson out there with Russell and Randle instead of Lou. Defensively, it would have been easier to switch on KMart.

    3. Byron did not coach down the stretch. I saw more instructions from the assistants and Kobe than anything from Byron.

For #2, Clarkson tweaked his ankle. It's probably the main reason Russell was out there actually. If Clarkson would have been "healthy" for the stretch run, it would have likely been Lou And Clarkson, not Russell and Clarkson.

I hope Mitch will make Boron play all 3 of our young players down the stretch for now on. They are our best players, they give us our best chance of winning and allows the future of our team to gain chemistry. Why Boron doesn't see that who knows.

My only WMC is that apparently it WASN'T Byron's call to play the kids down the stretch? It took an out of character (but awesome) move from Kobe to ASK them to finish the game while he sat on the bench? Really? We needed 20 games for Kobe to do the mature thing and step back? Our HC couldn't just make this call on day one? Jesus... I sincerely hope the franchise looks 1000% different after Kobe leaves because right now they look like a bunch of wusses.

bummed that they no-showed (save kobe, in an odd twist) at Houston. they're my least favorite nba team, and the lakers played right into their hands with the stupid turnovers.

Not going to say B0ron because that is stating the obvious. I will say Huertas and Sacre though. Huertas does not belong in the NBA, he can't hang, he needs to GO. And Sacre is 6 fouls when you're desperate, he's a practice body, he is not an NBA backup C. Why Black has been benched for life I will never understand. I'm as over this Sacre/Huertas experiment as I was the Kelly/Bass one and the Bass at the 5 one in general.

Kobe played well. Larry played with effort as usual. We looked really good for half the first quarter but you could tell that pace was not sustainable. Everyone else kinda sucked.

I was a fan of Hibbert before the season started and the early parts of the season but he's clearly not that great. Yes his defense is good but we don't have the personnel or the scheme to use him correctly. Offensively he's a nightmare, besides the mid range shot and free throws. His flip hook shot is weird and is inconsistent, he sometimes struggles to catch the ball and he has a hard time finishing around the rim.

I still like him, but I'd try to replace him over the summer. I would settle for him though if we miss out on better players.

If he comes with a significantly reduced price tag, I'll take him back.

I was coming in here to post that Huertas and Sacre SUCK. But you said it for me. Easily the two worst players on the roster and Byron is playing them in the 4th when the game was still in reach.

Seriously it's mind boggling how Sacre is still on this roster going on four years. He cannot play in this league. We might have the two worst players in the league playing in our second unit. If our stubborn a** coach would just use D'Angelo as the backup point guard while starting him it wouldn't be much of an issue.

Sacre has managed to get worse somehow. Where is Tarik Black?
I think Huertas still could be effective in spot minutes if we had a more intelligent system to run that emphasized better floor spacing.
