16 wins would tie for the 28th worst record in terms of winning percentage. 13 wins would tie for 8th worst.
^^ That would definitely be rock bottom to me. Although it could get even worse I suppose if additionally we were to strike out again in FA.
Ultimate rock bottom: 1) we end up with the worst or second to worst record this year 2) our young guns average less than 30 min per game on the year 3) we lose the pick to philly 4) Byron is retained as head coach for next year If those things happened, I would have to stop following the team. A first in my 20+ years as a Laker fan.
PG Huertas 77 Russell 63 Clarkson 57 TEAM: 57 WING Williams 68 Kobe 64 Clarkson 62 Young 53 Peace 46 Nance 38 TEAM: 59 BIG Bass 77 Randle 76 Hibbert 74 Sacre 71 Kelly 63 Peace 58 Black 57 Nance 53 TEAM: 69
Not sure I would stop following. I would definitely stop watching them though. This may belong in the optimism thread, but even if all those things happen, we STILL have Randle, Russell and Clarkson along with enough cap space to overpay for SOMEONE (ie Batum). If Byron were retained as head coach for next year, it wouldn't be as bad as this year with Kobe hijacking the offense. Would we still be pissed...a lot? Obviously. But he wouldn't have a choice but to play Randle, Russell, Clarkson, and for the sake of argument, Batum because they are the best players at every position we'd have and Byron wouldn't have time to be playing mind games as he'd be in the final year (his 4th year is a team option) of his contract and he'd have to win.
Why would Batum come here? Seems like Charlotte is playing well and they will certainly overpay to keep him. In any case, even in the worst case scenario, like others have said, we'll have randle russell and clarkson....but we'd still have Lou Williams which worries me. Then again, the 3 of them would no longer be "rookies" so Scott wouldn't be able to play that card again. And yeah that Kobe guy won't be playing any more either.
Yeah if I could have a max contract (and make no mistake he's likely to get paid that much this summer) from Charlotte or LA, I'm picking LA a thousand times.
I need frequent breaks from grading for finals, so here's one position at a time; PG first... PG Huertas 75-- Russell 64+ Clarkson 57 TEAM: 57
PG Huertas 72--- Russell 64 Clarkson 57 TEAM: 57 WING Williams 68 Kobe 67+++ Clarkson 62 Young 52 Peace 46 Nance 38+ Brown 36* (not yet qualified) TEAM: 59 BIG Bass 78 Randle 75 Hibbert 73 Sacre 64--- Kelly 62 Peace 58 Black 57 Nance 53 TEAM: 69+ Top Points Per Possession Consumed: Huertas 1.33 Bass 1.19 Williams 1.15 Bottom Points Per Possessions Consumed: Brown 0.83 Sacre 0.91 Black 0.92
I'll help Assist Rate Huertas 8.2 Russell 4.1 Kobe 3.9 He's handing out assists at literally twice the rate of anyone else on the Lakers. His 2:1 ast/to ratio is better than Russell's and Kobe's, too. It's the best on the team. His TS% is better than everyone else except Bass, Young, Hibbert, and Williams. His eFG% is third best on the team. He's also third in steal rate. In other words, he's doing all the things (from his side of the court) he should be doing as a PG. Once I get the defensive stats from 82games posted, I'm sure we'll see that his counterpart contributions are pretty ridiculous. He's nowhere near the defenders of JC or DA.
